*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

@JayzTwoCents We have found a few major considerations for Ryzen testing that significantly impact results. Has taken several retests.

This too:

Unfortunately I will not have day 1 results for Ryzen. Their delay getting it to me + my SF trip ruined that chance. Ill be fashionably late

So his review is delayed.

I really, really hope this is not something like the bug which the first Phenom had.

Or the SB chipset issues!

Hardly the same as the TLB bug, Phenom performance got slower with the fix applied.
You ended up with a new board with Intels fix :p.

I had a few boards at the time that I needed to get replaced with the B3 revision, as I'd done a few Sandy builds for people.

or pentium FDIV bug
That was (and still is) blown out of all proportion tho. It was something like 64 in a million off (0.000064)

They even had to release a utility to *test* to see if you had the bug. If it was that bad I'm sure you'd know you had it :)

How is Tech of Tomorrow? He is the bloke who did that AMD song - he said he bought all the hardware himself so would be open to saying what he wanted about it.

He seems like a nice dude but he also seems oblivious when it comes to tech. Heard him say so many wrong things over the few months i follow him a good while back.

Considering that twitter post from g nexus I wonder if mobo.and or mem has a greater effect on performance for these chips than we've seen previous

Either ability to use higher memory speeds and more bandwidth or the CPUs running consistently at higher clocks on mobo with better cooling of vrms etc

Just pondering
