*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

More evidence to suggest the issue is indeed the windows scheduler not understanding the Zen architecture and moving threads between CCXs causing latency issues

What ram speed? Scoring lower than mine @ 3.6 there

2400Mhz, it is a bit lower because I had AMD Master open, it seems to use a fair bit of power.

nice balanced setup is that you 24/7 setup then ...from your other posts you seem to have a good 1700 chip .....i wonder if these can be under volted lower ghz and would love to see the power usage then ..thats on my list once i get the boards in

This is the lowest I can go for 3.7Ghz, I will see how low I can go with 3.6Ghz

What are you guys using to monitor temperatures? I can't find anything apart from Ai suite which doesn't update as quick

AMD RyZen Master is probably the most accurate, others may get it right but I would compare them against that one before trusting them.

3.7Ghz - Realbench Stress Test 10 mins in. CPU topped at 53 degrees. Love how these run that cool for an 8 core.

that said there does seem to be upto 10c difference between what master and the asus mobo ai-suite-iii says is the cpu/core temp - even more confused.

those wanting to install win 7 on Ryzen Thx to The Stilt over @ AnandTech

Copy dism.exe, boot.wim & install.wim (sources directory) files from the Windows 7 ISO image to your hard-drive.
Download the USB driver for Ryzen: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ag6oE4SOsCmDhGIQJdHdaXC-_w-C
Extract the package to the same directory as DISM is located.
Enter the folders containing the individual driver files and check that there is not "Unblock" button visible. If there is, you need to manually toggle it for each and every file.

- "DISM /mount-wim /wimfile:boot.wim /index:2 /mountdir:x:\xxx" (x:\xxx = a temporary path of your choice, make sure to have ~20GB of space available for install.wim).
- "DISM /image:x:\xxx /add-driver /driver:Ryzen_USB_W764\ /recurse /forceunsigned"
- "DISM /unmount-wim /mountdir:x:\xxx /commit"

Windows 7 install.wim files contain four different OS variants, regardless of the officially stated edition of the media you have (Home, Professional, Ultimate).
The index order within the install.wim is always the same, regardless of the edition: Index 1 = Home Basic, Index 2 = Home Premium, Index 3 = Professional, Index 4 = Ultimate.

So if your media is for Professional edition, you need to make the changes to Index 3. If it is a Ultimate media, then make the changes to Index 4, etc.

- "DISM /mount-wim /wimfile:install.wim /index:x /mountdir:x:\xxx" (x:\xxx = a temporary path of your choice, make sure to have ~20GB of space available for install.wim).
- "DISM /image:x:\xxx /add-driver /driver:Ryzen_USB_W764\ /recurse /forceunsigned"
- "DISM /unmount-wim /mountdir:x:\xxx /commit"

After you have added the drivers to both of the WIMs, you can install Windows 7 from a USB drive and using USB keyboard and mouse.
Make sure that you don't use USB ports provided by a 3rd party manufacturer (other than ASMedia), as there are still no drivers for those in the media.
After the installation, install the Relive chipset driver pack for Windows 7 (available at AMD.com).

I'm not sure what you're trying to say in relation to my comment.

I nearly every AMD bumph I've seen, they marketed the Ryzen as a 6900k competitor, not a 7700k competitor. Pricing is irrelevant.

How's pricing irrelevant?
It's 6900K competition at 7700K pricing, its price competitor is the 7700K, and it soundly kills it. Price couldn't be any less relevant.

When you price a product, it naturally gets compared to the same product of similar pricing.

What are you talking about? Surely when you have a £20,000 budget you should expect everything a £100,000 car offers? ;)

Its kills both chips in different ways :D win win

Please cite this or its just made up
Watch any of the Ryzen reviews on Youtube.

IIRC JayzTwoCents and Barnacules were the first to highlight it in one of their Tech Talk Q&As, when ASUS sent Jay their Crosshair they specifically warned him that they had only had a couple of weeks lead time and the release BIOS was not up to release standard but they had no other choice short of being the only manufacturer to delay their board launch.

*EDIT*

Here, they discuss the BIOS and the Win 8/10 driver issue from about 42:30 to 43:30
