Looking at these new R5 CPU's.

I could probably sell my 3770k, Z77 board and 16GB RAM. Then replace with a 1500X, equivalent board and RAM...and possibly break even.

Insane value.

Thing MS have done this for one reason and one reason alone. They don't want another XP situation where it's impossible to get people off of a dead insecure platform. Which in the process was stigmatising the company as insecure and out dated.

This started as soon as Win 10 launched. And was part of the reason the OS was a free upgrade.

Agree with what you say and i understand why ...But for me there is issues with DPC with 8.1 & 10 that i do not get with 7 with my DAW setup believe me i have spent hours trying to resolve this but in the end i should not have to be wasting my time when it works fine in 7 ....and with that i should be able to use my new hardware that being Ryzen on 7 with support

I doubt it.

Probably £100-50 outlay depending on your MB, and you might as well get the 1600 otherwise what's the point jumping from a 4/8 to a slightly better 4/8?

New mobo/platform, the Z77 chipset is quite dead and unsupported, even the high end mobos are out of support since at least 2016.

If I still had my 3770k I would definitely go for 1400 or 1600, now is the time to sell though as these will drop in value massively once the new stuff is out.

Or go the other way,as it is the fastest CPU on the platform, and the same goes with motherboards. I had one of the best socket 775 mini-ITX motherboards and it held its value for years, which was kind of funny.

No I personally wouldn't do this, I will go 1800X soon.

But the attraction for those that want to go AM4 from Z77 is the fact it provides excellent upgrade potential over the next few years. So you could go, in my example, from a 3770K to an 1500X for little to no outlay, have a better CPU with higher IPC, lower power usage and far better SMT, faster RAM, far better I/O (USB 3.1 etc) and know you can upgrade on the same platform for 3-4 years.

Brilliant.

Rather than putting up the voltage you should keep it at the unstable settings and try and find a stress test that fails. Do us all a favour. :)

I would start with some AVX2 Linpack with max memory.

Is there any way to test specific instruction sets. I hear there is a possible issue with FMA3?

Does anyone have Premiere CC they can test also?

I can upload my project to see if anyone else has trouble with it.
