*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

What do you mean single digit percentages and could never supply more than a small percentage of the market? They had around 50% of the market at one point.

What do you mean by 50% of the market? 50% of one part of the CPU market?

AMD have never got close to Intel even at the hight of AMD's success.

I haven't found anything concrete yet stating how much they will be however I hope they will be lower then Intels offerings. Saying that it depends on there end performance

AMD are always pulling rabbits out of hats on shoestring budgets and I'm sure they will do it again with AM4. But holding parity with Intel, well thats another thing altogether.

Certainly agree with that, I don't believe they will out perform Intel but if they can match or a little behind and prices are significantly lower I think they done alright

I think the poor pound will make Zen look worse then it would have done but I'm still expecting 6-8 core CPU's with at best Ivybridge performance at mainstream prices.

Mainstream prices being what ever intel are charging for their top i5 CPU at the time.

Going off the current line up and scaling from probable prices I think it's possible we're looking at £350~ for the middle of the road Zen 8 cores.

How thee have little expectations of zen. If zen is only ivy performance, AMD are done.

I hope I'm wrong, I'm still on sandy bridge so have more than gotten my monies worth out of this system.

It's just intel have the most money which normally means they have the best people so I don't realistically expect AMD to be going toe to toe.

But 8 Zen cores that are faster than my system with a mobo with all the latest features will get me reaching for my wallet.
