*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

AMD had informed publications that some of Vega APUs have a frequency black hole from 1350-1450 Mhz when overclocked, but it's fine above that.

So if you were stuck at around 1350 Mhz try more than 1450 Mhz and you will maybe have a surprise discovering you can reach 1575-1600 Mhz.

Quite a few people on reddit who were stuck at sub 1300MHz have given it a go and suddenly found they can actually get 1500MHz on stock 1.1V using their RR APU's.

It's a shame Amd are just around to prop up the bigger boys, until the bigger boys will be self sufficient and then will dump Amd.
I always had suspicions over Amd giving intel the Apu market, with Vega GM/Gl.
We'll see how it turns out in a year or so, but as much as raven ridge is a refresher, it's still very weak. I would love to see a 4c8t and 6c12t
Ryzen with the same 1536/1280 Vega(polaris die). But I guess it just can't command the price that Apple and Intel can do so in the intended market place.

I like it how bullish AMD are right now, look at that :eek: :eek:

We appreciate the advancements they’ve helped drive with the x86 architecture over the last four decades. But, we’re ready to take it from here. In fact these are actually cheaper, same modules, just different heatsink. :)

So, how decent is that RAM?

I was looking at getting the 16GB Dark Pro 3200MHz kit (C14) when I upgrade to Ryzen, but this 16GB kit is a whole £60 cheaper! What would be the practical difference between these two kits in terms of performance on a Ryzen system?

@Gibbo
Those use B die also ?? Or is it TUF specific thing ??
Deffo like Gray ones better.
If it goes for memory have You heard anything about 10nm Samsung ddr's yet ?? I know they started making some for laptops last month but have not seen any news about desktop parts yet :(

@strumpusplunket as long as its B-Die it will do the job matter of playing with volts and gettig them to run at C14 :)
