You can add Starship Troopers Extermination to the list. FSR3 FG has been added in Update 0.6.2 release today.

Now what’s interesting here is that Starfield is yet another game in which FSR 3.0 Frame Generation offers better performance than DLSS 3 Frame Generation. The performance gap is smaller than the one we saw in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Still, this is a big win for the red team.

I also could not feel the additional input latency. This is to be expected as we were running with over 120fps at all times. So, perhaps things may differ for those who cannot hit such high framerates. Mouse movement also felt great, though there were some slight stutters with AMD FSR 3.0 here and there. These stutters were nowhere close to those of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Still, despite its lower framerate, DLSS 3 Frame Generation felt more consistent with better frametimes.

Sadly, though, AMD’s FSR 3.0 Super Resolution is inferior to DLSS 3 Super Resolution. FSR 3.0 is simply unable to reconstruct a lot of details, resulting in a lot of aliasing on numerous surfaces. At the end of the video, I highlight this issue. It really looks bad.

So, while AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Generation offers superior performance to NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation, it gets dragged down by the average image quality of its upscaler. AMD needs to overhaul its Super Resolution tech now that FSR 3.0’s Frame Generation works this well. Otherwise, there is literally no point enabling it if you have an RTX40 series GPU.

For owners of older GPUs, this is a bit more complicated. On one hand, you can increase your performance and AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Generation is doing a great job here. On the other hand, AMD FSR 3.0 Super Resolution is nowhere close to the quality of NVIDIA DLSS 3 or even Intel XeSS, meaning that you’ll get a worse image quality. And no, you cannot use FSR 3.0 FG with NVIDIA DLSS or with Intel XeSS.

This is funny really because a lot of PC gamers were criticizing DLSS 3 for its “fake frames”. A lot of people were also pausing videos to highlight its visual artifacts. So, will the same people enable AMD FSR 3.0 to improve performance and suffer from major image quality issues? Isn’t image quality more important than “fake frames”? That’s food for thought.

For Starfield, (if I ever properly play the thing, don't have a lot of motivation to) - as a current 3090 user I'm definitely going to keep using Nukem9's DLSS > FSR3 frame gen mod so I can use DLSS for the upscaling. DLSS upscaling is just so much better than FSR2 upscaling, and native FSR3 frame gen only lets you use FSR2 upscaling. Not good.

Starfield is weird game from a utilisation perspective most of the time I was cpu bound even at 3840x1600

Is there no sign of FSR3 coming to Cyberpunk?

CDProjekt is an Nvidia partner. They are dragging their feet in implementing rival tech even though Nvidia claimed they do not block any competitor features. I've used the FSR3 mod with Cyberpunk and it's almost flawless on my 3080FE.

Given AMDs very own sponsored titles have/are taking forever to get FSR 3 officially, I would say it's more likely fault on amds end.

CDPR signed a 15 year deal to stop engine development on RED engine back in 2022 when they went with Epic. Any hope of FSR3 implementation was lost at that point. They only completed Phantom Liberty and the 2.0/2.x updates because they were contractually obligated to finish that. Back when Cyberpunk came out, remember that the CEO of AMD said frame gen and AI wasn't going to be a popular thing, too, so why would CDPR have a shred of interest in implementing AMD tech anyway. And besides, all of AMD's tech was at least 2 gens behind, with GPU hardware that gave single digit FPS when enabling path tracing, so any hope of optimising for AMD HW went out of the window. In fact using the FSR3 frame gen mod only works with RTX cards, which is both ironic and hilarious :p

Oh how the turntables.

Rubbish... i don't believe that. Cyberpunk has FSR2, took them a long time to add it and Cyberpunk will get FSR 3, and the engine is being updated all the time, you can't run a live game service with update patches and DLC and not develop the engine. they just added a spline rail system, that requires physics grid work, IE engine development.

CDPR do drag their feet with AMD tech, who knows the reason for it but their partnership with Nvidia is a reasonable culprit to cite, not being allowed to develop the engine is clearly not it.

One more thing, The fact that FSR 3 only works with Nvidia cards using a mod clearly means there is a detection code block in the engine. Who told them to put that there?

Its also an engine modification... as is path tracing and DLSS 3, christ.... they are not allowed to develop the engine, what, other that when it comes to Nvidia tech?

Pull the other one, its got bells on it.

FSR3 mod works on AMD in CP.

The NV GPU check has been hacked and spoofed by LukeFZ's mod to bypass it.
