Dear pre-orderee,
On Wednesday next week it is time for the release of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. We are writing to you with the intent to inform you how to get the game.
Using your email address and the order number (starting with ST) you go to https://shelf.frictionalgames.com and login. If you do this before Wednesday, you will see an Amnesia: TDD section with only a release date, no download links, serial or Steam key. But, when you login on Wednesday you will see download links, serial and the Steam key.
If you login on Wednesday and for whatever reason do not see your download link, serial or Steam key. Email [email protected] and we will do our best to help you as soon as we can.
What do you get in your pre-order?
You get 1 serial and 1 Steam key.
You get download links for Windows, Mac and Linux - All will run with the same serial.
You can use the Steam key to activate the Windows & Mac version of Amnesia on Steam. You do this in the Game menu in Steam, using "Activate a Product on Steam...".
You can do BOTH, that is you do not have to choose between Steam or our download, you get it all.
But please, as bandwidth cost and is limited, only download the game for the platform you intend to play it on. You can always get all the versions later, there is no download limit or time limit.
We Thank You for the support, as you will notice there is a developer commentary function in the game. This was added as we reached the 2000 pre-orders goal.
Hope you enjoy the game, if you do, please help us and spread the word!
Horrific, but sweet regards,
Frictional Games
Kind of peeved.
I preordered the steam CD key a week ago via the fictional games website at 10% off, and now the pre-order is available on steam directly for 20% off!
They made me think I was getting a good deal!
I don't really care about the money, but it's a little offside if you ask me.
This is one of the scariest games in recent memory.but the atmosphere Frictional has infused into the experience is as powerful as they come. It's a tale of terror that's menacing and disturbing from the very first moments, and only amplifies the further you progress. Any fan of horror, every Lovecraft fan, and any with even a hint of curiosity should give Amnesia a shot. Few games are able to conjure up an atmosphere this genuinely frightening.
Just stick with it, what's a few £ worth? Plus when you buy through Frictional Games all the money goes to the developers. You even get a Steam CD Key.Kind of peeved.

Ah true good point.err the same cut of the money will still go to steam.
Steam isn't just going to let them use their servers and support staff for free.
To get rid of blurriness (insanity), you gotta make progress (complete puzzles, move forward), not just get into the light. The demo felt pretty weak, I was being told that darkness saps away at the characters sanity but I couldn't gauge whether I was ok or heading for the cuckoos nest.
I thought that maybe the wobbling blurring viewpoint was an indicator, but it still continued when I was in a lit environment.
I dunno, it feels spooky, and the extra touches such as having to physically having to open a door, turn a wheel etc really add to it, some of it seems lost in translation to me.
Why does your guy go insane in the dark?
^^ an evil beast or whatnot is hunting you.... and you running around in almost complete darkness in nothing but a torch and your underpants
That wouldnt scare you bat**** crazy too?![]()
No, you don't. They give you a Steam CD key and a direct download of the game when you buy it, so you can chose.you dont need steam do you to play this? also thought bout downloading penumbra collection for £4.13 that isnt steam either yeah?
