You can be **** and quiet or you can be good and critical. You can't be **** and critical.
Yea and that's ultimately why Palace have put up with him but a point always comes when you don't do so well and being a **** means you'll be quickly sacked. As I said, I think he's probably the most likely manager Utd will target (not least because of their investment into players to play 3 at the back) but they'll be concerned about things not going to plan early and Glasner pointing the finger at them.

How many managers does that make for Luke Shaw now? ;)

Pretty sure Luke Shaw hasn't even seen some of our managers between when he jumped on the treatment table vs when he came off it. He probably thinks we've only had 3 managers since he arrived.

alonso ?

or we could give Jamie Carragher a go, he seems to know a lot about what it takes to manage Utd.
He's after the Liverpool job surely? Madrid and Liverpool were the two jobs he always wanted? So why would he drop the Liverpool ambition for one of their bitterest rivals? He's still at Madrid so unless they sack him, he'd have to resign and then we'd owe Madrid a few mega-billions for him. No way I see that happening ever.

Honestly getting Ole back on a interim basis till the end of the season seems the best option imo. He will easily get us top 6. Then plan from now till the summer for a proper replacement.

As far as actual managers go I would love Emery if I could pick one manager. What he has done at Villa is exceptional although why would he leave with what he is doing plus I am sure Villa know what they got whereas he would be treated badly by the board at United.

Glasner and Areola are all massive risk. Look at how Frank is working out at Spurs and I thought he would have been a success.

We're 6th now! Don't you mean top 5 as that would be an improvement on our current position?

I don't think we have put a huge investment into that honestly. I think that with the current squad we still potentially have a better back 4 than a back 5. Yes we have a few too many CBs but Maguire should be moved on and we can't seen to keep a few of the others fit.

Luke Shaw LB, Mazraoui RB.

Maguire, De Ligt, Yoro, Heaven, Martinez for the CB spots.

The bigger issue is we have too many forward minded players.

Arguably there are 3-4 positions available and:

Amad
Cunha
Bruno
Mbuemo
Mount
Sesko
Zirkzee

If we play a midfield 3, none of those players are really suited to being part of that IMO. If we play a midfield 3 then thats 7 players for 3 spots.

Fundamentally though I still think the squad is more suited to 4 at the back formations than 5 at the back.

The difference between 5th and 14th is 4 points. We play City and Arsenal in January. We could easily be down there by the beginning of February. We dropped massive points against Westham, Wolves and even Leeds yesterday.

I'd take Ange until the end of the season. What the hell. Would be fun.

I think Ole recently said he'd definitely be up for the job if it were offered to him again but I don't see it being very likely, apart from on an interim basis. Brighton in the FA Cup on the 11th but City on the 17th so I guess the club would want to have someone appointed for then? No way would Jim let Darren go up against Pep?

The recent results were very poor and really Ruben should have known better than to say what he did yesterday in light of the results. If he'd been getting us into the top 4 but thought no January signings to improve then he'd have a base to make his claims from. Perhaps emotion got the better of him?

I concur, Ole to the end of the season, and Emery in the summer.

Maresca might be a good option at least for a short term contract

Hell - I'd take someone like Martin O'Neil till the end of the season...

I do think if everyone is fit/back United have a good squad - still lacking in a real quality midfielder but Lammens has been excellent - by far Uniteds best player so far.

United have the squad for 4-2-3-1 setup - Just need a manager who will play the players in their position without messing around too much.

He has far too much control over the running of the club at Villa. He turned down Newcastle who were at the time much bigger than Villa because they wouldn't give him the control he wanted, there is zero chance of him going to a club like Man U. He has final say on everything, from player signings, staff signings, even the menu at the training ground, owners have given him the keys and let him do what he wants

With there only being 4 points between us and 14th, I've very confident that Onana would have had us 14th or lower by now. He'd have had 2 or 3 absolute clangers at this stage. Not that I'm saying Lammens is a fantastic keeper, he's just simply been a massive upgrade from onana.

Lammens has been good in my view. Not exceptional but good. Hes not world class by any stretch but in comparison to Onana he is a massive massive upgrade. We would certainly be near the bottom of the table without him. Thats much more of a reflection on Onana than him though unfortunately.

Amorim has been walking a tightrope for a while now, first in terms of his own poor managerial performance and more recently in relation to his issues with Wilcox and the hierarchy.

Side note: quite why anyone thinks Wilcox is the right man is not yet clear either...

So you'd think they will have someone in mind to replace him pretty quickly. Berrada was behind the appointment of Amorim, and that really shouldn't have been his call.
