An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Just bought & installed this yesterday - I've never liked this sort of game before - but this seems strangely addictive. :)

My stealthy little wood elf turned a little evil over the weekend, having been a good little guy. He's now a creature of the night, and been ejected from the fighters guild ;) He's done the thieves and DB guilds.

Bored at work, so I'm considering creating a 'good' battlemage and thinking along these lines:
Race: Breton
Sign: Mage
Specialization: Magic
Attributes: Endurance & Willpower (End from warrior, Will from mage)
Skills: Blade, Conjuration, Alteration, Illusion, Restoration, Mysticism, Destruction
This guy (or lass) will be in the fighters and mages guilds.

Would check on http://www.oblivionmods.info/ but I'm getting errors on the page.

Any suggestions?

Another question:
Last night I found a vest with 10% chameleon extra, when I equip that I sorta become invisible, but what does the 10% stand for

makes sneeking easyer etc, but people can still see you unless you have 100%

Hehe, it's working for me :p

Seems a good character, but i would probably think about replacing mysticism with heavy or light armour as a major skill. I'm basically a battlemage too, and have the same major skills as your next character, except i have alchemy instead of restoration (I wish i had chosen restoration tbh).

Good stuff. Will probably go with heavy armour - the little guy had light armour until he turned evil and hid behind his cloaks ;)

The visuals for any % chameleon are the same (Predator-style), but it will help your chances of staying undetected while sneaking a wee bit.
there are visual changes.. i dono at what percentage 3% looks like 20% but 75% is far clearer than 25% and 100% you can see nothing at all and you're right, it aint good for the gameplay. it could do with a script to set lower the % depending on what the player is doing.. so you get a 20% ring, you move and so you lose quater of the effect, you attack and you lose half the effect, move+attack and lose three quaters of the effect. something like that anyhow.. i may have to have a go at doing such.

Oblivion and Overclocking

Is anyone else finding Oblivion a bitch to play overclocked, My 6800's have been running at ultra speeds for ages with no probs in all my other games also have played BF2 for hours faultless but as soon as I boot up oblivion they artifact, set back to stock and it runs fine. Also found I had to set my 3700SD back to stock speeds to prevent random blue screens. At first I thought I was having system probs but it just seems it wont run if I apply the slightest overclock

Ok, this is a little annoying, I finally found the place in Imperial City where the woman is selling the house but she won't talk to me as she will only talk to friends, WTF am I supposed to do now

What you do with every woman that wont talk to you, give them money :D

you are having system probs to be honest.

Oblivion is proving to you that what you thought was a stable over clock is infact not.

Not a lot you can do about it really.

Its is a pain in the rear.

I had to de-clock my p4 3.2 from 4ghz to 3.8 to get oblivion running stable.

I still get the odd error when i quit the game, but that i can live with and believe most people get. :(

Not me, I can run my system at the same overclock speed, maybe your system was borderline stable and Oblivion pushes it over the edge?

Can i buy a horse on oblivion?

Hey guys.

Just wondering if i can buy an horse on oblivion : the elder scrolls.

Obviously one you can ride on..

Cheers!

Sure can and with the new DLC you can purchase an addon that adds horse armour. Don't think its worth it myself though.

Most cities have a stables on the outskirts, where you can buy them.

Cheers for this mate!

Also, I am now in the thieves guild, and the guy wont sell me any more lockpicks, the option has gone off the menu.

Any idea how i can obtain lock picks?

Just bring the console down and type: player.additem 0000000a 100

This will give you 100 picklocks.

Cheating I know but will it will save you from searching all over the place. ;)

AND ITS ALL YOUR FAULT! :P

Cheers mate :D

Don't do it man!!!!!!!!!

Why ruin the best game this year?

Learn how to pick locks properly and watch them build up in your inventory.

Quoted for truth! Wait until you done everything in a game before cheating. There's always a way through without cheats ;).

Which guy are you referring to? Armand sells them just before the 1st thief quest, but only then.

Go to Bruma and look for Ongar(the first fence), he normally has 100 for sale.

<edit>
He's normally in the Inn, just next to the east gate, after 7 PM.
