An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

This happened twice to me once with Prior whatshisnames horse which I was given, and the other with a horse I bought. Haven't stole a horse yet and its a little more obvious than picking a pocket !

;)

I left my first horse outside a mine north of Cheydinhal when delivering weapons for the Fighters Guild, came outside and it was gone, so I headed off to Azura's shrine and thought nothing of it (level 2/3).

I was trawling Ayleid ruins looking for statues and walked past the same mine, now level 15 and about 3 months later - an abandoned paint horse! No red hand for stealing it, but I had nicked a couple of horses in the meantime so it probably didn't count as mine and hadn't been travelling Cyrodil with me. The most annoying horses are the ones left outside doorways, there's usually one right across the entrance to the city on the waterfront, and instead of entering the city I've nicked the horse with a guard right behind me a couple of time

Horses make good cushions too, I fell off a huge cliff and hit a rock at the bottom - dead horse but not a scratch on me, and right by the shrine I was heading for :o.

Just wondering, as my little wood elf is a fully fledged bloodsucker, scouring the countryside - if I were to bite NPC's in a village, could I turn a whole village into vampires?

No, you don't pass on Vampirism in the game.

You should be able to find a beggar or two in most villages, or if you're in a guild a fellow guild member to feed on.

That's a shame - would've been quite fun to turn a village into vampires.

I lost the monks horse ages ago, but I usually find one with a fallen rider and aquire it. Failing that, I just turn into a highwayman - quite fun being evil, and antagonising guards from the rooftops in the cities ;) Shame my infamy's a tad high :p

I gave up on horses: they're a nice novelty, but they just get in the way. My first (white) one lasted about a game week before a land dreugh killed it - and I'd only left it about a minute earlier. Once your speed is about 45 then you cover ground plenty quick enough anyway: you don't get the slow-motion effect that MW used to have for low speed ability.

Same here, once you have a fair amount of places discovered on the map travelling by horse actually takes longer due to finding it, getting on and off and dismounting if you need to attack etc. If they could carry thing then they would be quite useful!

Sorry if this has been asked before -

I am in an abandoned mine, and the map shows a tunnel where there isn't one. There are a bunch of boulders where the entrance should be, so I preume I have to move the boulders to access the tunnel. Can't do it though - any ideas?

Great game!

If you're on the quest I think you're possibly on, look for another way around.
Also the map is 2d, and the game is 3d. Try looking up and down, there may be alternative ways, like a bridge over your head or a tunnel underneath your current position.

You could always install the saddlebag mod that allows you to store items on the horse, its now menu driven and gives you the option of opening up the bag or mounting the horse when you press use.

There is another way, sorry if it's been posted before:

Knock your horse unconcious, and while it's on the floor, you can "open" it like a bag, and store items there. You'll have to knock the horse unconcious every time you want an item though :p

"Mongo mad!"

Two disadvantages to FT: the one stated above (no looting) and also you can't get the athletics and acrobatics experience you get from bunny-hopping across the landscape.

The advantage is: no encounters, for those days when you're just not in the mood for a highwayman/woman.

BTW, am I the only person playing someone honest? Everyone I hear talking about this game (and MW) seems to revel in being a thief and/or murderer. Is there something troubling people??

lol considering there are two huge quest lines that involve being a thief or murderer if you don't do them then you miss out on a lot of gameplay. :)

I find misbehaving a lot more fun as being a good peacefull mage.

I do give beggars some gold though (but only hoping that there is one that gives me a rare item for giving him a gold coin, not because I like them :p )

One of the many examples of dumbing down in the game is the way that any character could in theory do every quest in the game. At least in MW some were mutually exclusive. The closest Oblivion gets is the FG not letting you join if your imfamy rep is too high. I wasn't questioning the game though, more the glee with which people boast about killing and stealing when playing computer games. I know it;s the Keyboard Warrior at work, but it's still worrying... :p

I've got an evil thief/assassin atm that recently evolved (done TG and DB), but will be creating a good battlemage (for FG and MG).

I guess it may be due to the gameworld being free of the restrictions of society (within reason). We get up, got to work, go home, have a drink etc - in a game you can explore beyond the norm of your environment.
