An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Just wondering what these soul gems do, and the azure's star. I have several good gems, and the star, but no idea what to do with them. Do you trap soul's in them or something? If so, how?

Yes, you can do it by having a soul trap effect active on a creature/NPC when they die, either by casting a soul trap spell on them, or having a weapon with soul trap on strike. The filled soul gem can then be used to enchant an item with an effect (at an altar of enchanting) or to recharge a magical weapon (just click it in your inventory to do this). Azura's Star is a re-usable one, after filling it and using it to recharge or enchant you can capture another soul in it.

Great stuff - can finally recharge all the enchanted weapons I've discovered and used up.

Which school of magic does soul trap use? Haven't really levelled up any yet (got a thief/assasin type character).

25+ skill in Mysticism I think. IIRC its the Leyawiin Mages Guild that sells Mysticism spells so its probably for sale there if you haven't got it.

Thanks, will take a butchers tonight. My mysticism's still only about 5 at lvl18! Been focusing on being deadly sneaky ;)

Buy (or create) a minor detect life spell, then place heavy object on cast spell key and go and make a cup of tea - you'll have 25 in Mysticism in no time!

Sorry, can you explain a bit clearer.

Choose a spell like "Minor Life Detect", which is a low magicka using "Mystical" category spell.

Put something on the C key of your keyboard to temporarily wedge it down. This makes your character keep continually casting that spell, which in turn increases your ability in that field.

even things like minor detect might cost too much magicka at level 5 though, might need to do a wait 1hour every couple of minutes. Depends what your Intelligence and Wisdom levels are at though.

Doing the whole holed the key down beggers you character because your missing loads of points that can be used when leveling you character. I always make sure I can put 3 sets of 5 points in to stats before I level to get the most out of each level up.

If you want to :)

Her house is the second or third to the right as you come into Anvil I believe. If you still can't find it, look on the map :)

Rather nooby questions but:

You can use heavy or light armour - whichever you use you'l become proficient in eventully though of course it depends on your character abilities too..

Use the current quests tab of the inventory to select your current mission and for most missions a red pointer will appear to show you on the world and local maps where you should be headed, a green arrow shows the exact location when your in the correct area

then place heavy object on cast spell key

Sorry Hodders, I didn't understand that bit so there no need to be so sarcastic.

Cheers Garp for a much clearer explanation.
