An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Ahhh

I have done that particular quest
well that is a bit of a kick in the teeth :(
looks like lots more trading needs to be done

Thanks

You can always get that woman to train you. I had a few levels queued up, so i just trained 5 times, then levelled, then trained 5 more times, etc.

It will cost you though, depending at what stage in the game you're at.

Was doing some thieves quest with blind monks, and was sneaking through these caves and a wraith went straight past me! Almost touching shoulders! Normally these things attack on sight. Was so suprised, I just studied it as he went past! I didn't kill anyone on the whole quest as well.

Sneak at high level is now becoming very useful (118 atm) :p

Does anyone have the Fingers of the Mountain spell and actually able to use it? Last night I enchanted a load of armour so now I have a maximum of 400Magicka. I was on level 110 destruction too. the spell does 140shock in 5ft on target! it costs 277magicka though. It's good fun, kills almost anyone in one shot. Shame i need to take loads of potions to get repeated use with it.

**MINOR SPOILERS**

Just finished the main quest last night, and loved the ending.

Up at level 29 now (after a few marathon 6 hour sessions over the weekend) and am finding it all a little too easy. Its because although I'm a wood elf I've gone mad getting my magical stats right up there. I bought all the best destruction spells from the mages in the various guilds too and managed to find a staff of lightning that does mega damage. I buy stacks of strong potions of healing and sorcery and I'm sorted. I can take out a gloom wraith with one staff shot and a lightning bolt on touch. My sneak of 118 helps me get real close. The King of Miscarcand was also quite easy, because by fluke I managed to jump out of the way of all of his spells!

I also have a greater staff of burden, a custom made staff of paralysis (sooo cool) and a staff of frost (80 points on target!) so I'm virtually godlike now...... The only bit I found real tough was outside the 3 Bruma gates before you enter the great gate. Stacks of monsters there and I accidently antagonised a stack of Bruma Militia so they AND the monsters attacked me and me only !! FFS!! Then the AI got funny with me, everyone had a scowling look on their faces except when I talked to them, then they were friendly in relation to the main quest plot line !

Best quest so far was the Akaviri one the Countess of Bruma gives you. Loved that one. Paradise was good too....Now I'm gonna finish the DB questline, the Mages questline and the fighters questline before starting the Thieves one. Still loads to see and do.....

Glad to hear it...you've got some great quests to come. I thought the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood quests were superb.
Level 37 Dark Elf Assassin/Thief here. All main quests completed except the Mages Guild, which I'll quite possibly not bother finishing. I'm now just scowering the coutryside for quests/stories to do as I've generally had enough of cave and dungeon clearing.

Gotta agree with you there, although the Akaviri quest still remains my favourite. Only lvl 16 doing the thieves and dark brotherhood quests, as a full vampire, having to use caves to travel sometimes (getting nice loot though). My good character will be doing the fighters and mages quests when this ones done the MQ's - whenever that'll be!

Found an awesome viewspot, roughly a little bit above the 'T' of Jerrall Mountains, at the top of a mountain. Cracking view of the whole valley below, with the cities in the distances. Recommend the trip!

I've been exploring up there many a long day and there are indeed some superb views when the weather clears. Just in case you haven't been the full length of the mountain path up there already I can heartily recommend it. There's some very interesting 'features' to be seen.

What can I do with all the food and flower stuff I gathered?

It isn't needed to eat it as it only regenerates fatigue and not health so what is it for?

Keep it and use it to make potions when you have alchemy kit, quite a good money maker.

Potions made with good equipment and a high alchemy skill are better than even the 'Strong' potions aswell.

If you have a house, stash every single ingredient you find. All those ingredients really add up after a while.
The ingredients you really want to go for are the ones that restore health, and the ones that restore magicka. Off the top of my head, Daedra Hearts and Venison are good for health, although I can't remember any Magicka boosting ones.

All the potions you make yourself are time-based, so it'll be "regenerate 9hp for 30 seconds" or something, so they're not good if you need a quick boost of health. Still pretty damn useful though.

you can poison your weapons with the bad ones too.

strange... I got Vampire Dust (various vamp. infested caves and forts) and Daedra Hearts (oblivion gates) when i got kicked out of the Mages.

ahh... google tells me you stole from them. I killed Fathis Aren.

"If you were expelled for theft, you will need to collect 20 Redwort flowers and 20 Dragon's Tongue flowers. To find Dragon's Tongue, visit: Fort Redwater (along the Black Marsh border), or the West Weald. To find Redwort flowers visit: south of Fieldhouse Cave in County Leyawiin, the Ayleid ruins of Morahame or Wendelbelk, or scour the West Weald for them. The space between Bravil and Skingrad has many types of flora."

Can anyone remember the name of the bloke who falls out of the sky in Morrowind with the Scrolls of Icarian Flight? I'm planning to do a continuation of that, where his brother falls out of the sky as you leave Imperial City carrying some of them :p

Just imagine the views you'd get in Oblivion

I hate to burst your bubble, but the reason that levitation was taken out of Oblivion is that the scenery dosn't render properly when you get too high, and everything just looks 'broken'.

Hmm, I'm sure I've seen screenshots and it looks ok, although you have a point when it comes to towns :/

I'll try it anyway, will be good for a laugh :p

Not the only reason though, in some of the cities, if you have enough acrobatics you can jump onto the wall surrounding it, once on that you can jump down and explore the countryside whilst not having to worry about any mobs attacking you, as you don't go through the loading area screen. Once you fast travel/enter a different area they come back.

Just got my shiny new X1800XT installed and up and running...

Oblivion looks so much better!!! I've gone from 1024x768 med-high detail to 1280x1024 high detail with hdr and it looks and runs sweet:D
