It's never been officially confirmed, the word from Bethesda has always been "early 2006", and until that changes there isn't really a release date to be able to doubt!
The annoying thing is that Bethesda know exactly when the game will be released, yet are still refusing to say. They should just put us all out of our misery!

Indeed. I guess the constant questioning and uncertainty helps to generate more hype and discussion about the game.

It bloody annoys me though.

I've got my fingers crossed for 24th March.

Never played any of the elder scroll games. Would I understand this one? Looked at getting morrowind, but I dont really have the time at the moment to start ANOTHER game.

Yes, each story is different from what I can understand. This is not linked with morrowind at all except that its set in the same place... I think.

Not quite. Morrowind is set on the island of Vvardenfell, whereas Oblivion is set on the mainland :)

You won't need to have played Morrowind to understand it, but I'd highly recommend getting it, as it will give you a lot of background knowledge for Oblivion, as well as being a downright awesome game

EVen if I can't get the graphics up on this then I don't mind. Playability is what I am looking forward to, lets face it operation flashpoint wasn't much to go by but the playability of it was enormous!

Although they are based on the same lore and set in the same world, each game takes place in a different area and the storylines are seperate from each other.

There may be the odd minor link but you could jump straight into any of the elder scrolls games and not need to worry about having missed anything before.

Graphics aside for a moment..... the AI is going to be unreal in this game and nothing this complex and intelligent has ever been done before, your talking about every single NPC in the game having there own goals and a 24hr regime to complete and how they go about doing this is up to them and will probably be different each time, the sheer fact that you will be able to stalk an NPC, figure out his/her routine and then choose a time to rob there home based on your findings is fantastic.

Ultima 7 Part 1 and 2 had similar AIs (or scripts) which allowed for 24 hour regimes for the NPCs.

I'm gonna preorder my copy - Collectors Edition.

Game is confermed to ship in the US on the 20th, info on the Europe date is... well sketchy:

Expect the game in stores in the US as early as the 21st. The date in Europe may be a few days after, but it should be that week pretty much everywhere

Can only assume that its 24th.

Guys, you do know that PMs have been disabled on these boards for years, right?

I'd rather pay a 10er more from gameplay and be pretty confident about getting it on day of release.

That site says postage can take 3 to 4 days.

I've waited years for this game, so I can wait for a few more days if need be. Got the Collector's for £24.99 now.

can't wait for this game, but I think I may need a new graphics card.

I've currently got a Radeon 9800 Pro which has been great for the last 18 months or so, but what card would anyone recommend for under £150??
Also, would that new card make a noticable difference in Oblivion over the 9800 Pro??

6800gs just fits in the budget.
