Do you actually have ANY clue about ANY cars at all beyond your Dads 316? Do you even know who Cosworth are? Do you know anything about the Escort Cosworth? Do you understand the fact different people like different cars and have different tastes, and how this doesn't make them stupid/sad/plonker?

Do I know anything other than a 316? No, aren't all cars on the road 316's?

Too be honest I know very little about Cosworth, I have heard people mention them before and knew that it was a version of Escort, thats as far as my knowledge goes, but from a simple bystanders point of view, I don't like the look of them, thats just my opinion, However I do understand that some will (and obviously do) like them.

It's a general thread about Andi's day and the RS Fords he's seen. It's not a thread about how crap Fiesta Mk3's are, how people who drive Cosworths are 'saddo chavs' or about how 316's > Turbocharged Fords.

I'm quite sure he had a great day, and if he likes them, then good for him. I don't mean to be offensive towards Andi just voice my opinions about these cars and in general, the type of people that tend to drive them.

You've not answered my question. [Edit: You have now, sort of]

Do you know what an Escort Cosworth is? Do you know how much a good one is worth? Probably more than your Dads 316. None of them have outrageous alloys or bodykits - most of them are pretty standard cars, actually.

Now, I'm not a particular fan of them but at least I make sure I get my facts at least half straight before I start laying into things. I suggest you do the same, otherwise you are going to continue to both look very, very silly and also to ensure that your opinion holds absolutely no validty whatsoever with any regular in this forum.

It's only an Escort in looks. The Escort Cosworth was a rally-car for the road - similar in concept to the Subaru Impreza, and produced mainly to homologate the car for use in world rallying. Despite looking like, and being called, an Escort it's actually based on a modified (I believe) Sierra Cosworth platform, with an Escort-style bodyshell on top. It does indeed have a 2.0 Turbo engine, built by legendary firm Cosworth. When released, it was very quick and quickly gained cult status.

Even today, a ver good Cosworth can need more than £10,000 in order to buy one. They are pretty rare, and for many people, pretty special.

Sorry but you must be a bit of a sad case if you enjoy looking at pictures of 10 year old fords of which some ploker has put big wheels and lexus lights on.

The Merc is the only bit of class I see.
The one with Hubcaps?
And black door handles?

Personally I hate the look of all of those cars, dont have a clue about cosworth or whatever, dont think I can be bothered to research it either, just my opinion.

I've seen K plate examples (completley standard) being advertised for £15k, whether they went for that is another example, just goes to show how much the cars mean to people !

Fair play, I now know more about Cosworth's.

I'm surprised about the price tag, but they must be more special than I thought.

It doesn't stop me from disliking them though, and I will never understand why people will pay so much for one, but as they say each to their own.

Nothing wrong with disliking them, but there is a world of difference between disliking them and calling everyone who owns or likes one a 'saddo' or a '****'.

One is your opinion which you are entitled to, the other makes you look stupid.

Don't worry, it hasn't put me off, in fact I'm surprised how well recieved this thread has been, I didn't think this sort of thing interested many people here, if I get any more pics in the future, I'll post them.

I was compiling a list of specs and stuff, but tbh, I think most of it'll go straight over lucasade1's head. I can't say his lack of knowledge about these cars is that shocking, I know to a lot of people these aren't anything special, he's lack of manners in slagging something off he doesn't know anything about is a little disappointing though.

lucasade1, there's a 316 round here thats been completly ruined, and is driven by a complete dick. This doesn't mean your dad is a **** and drives a crap car ;)

The lights on the white fiesta are clear lights, which are, by the owners own admission, becoming a little chavvy, we saw some lovely lights yesterday, and I believe he intends to change his to some the same :)

Totally mint and extremely low mileage *I'm talking around delivery mileage* Cossies will go for 25K ish - good conditions ones go for £17k ish and okish ones for £10K

Or they did when I was looking at them a few months ago

Essentially the Escort Cosworth was developed so that it could be released and then the rally car could be built from it once the required number had been built.

The only reason this car even exists is so Ford could use the Escort as a Rally Car. It was a damn good rally cas as well. :D

But when it comes to developing a rally/race car there's only 2 people you should go to...One is Lotus...the Other - Cosworth...

Cosworth have built many road going race cars in their time. My personal favourite is the Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Cosworth which dominated in the German Touring Car Championship.

7145 Escort Cosworths were eventually built before the EU killed them off.

It was built around the Sierra chassis - cut down, with a Escort bodyshell grafted onto it. But it is still one of the best Rally Replica's on the road.

Please check out the history section on http://www.cosworth.com to give you some semblence of a clue as to what this car is.

Forget that I ever said saddo etc. That was only aimed at vanpeebles after he called me stupid, I will accept a lot of abuse but that is one thing I will not be called, espically over something like a car.

Sadly as Beemers get cheaper and cheaper this opens the flood gates to chavs who can pick one up for a couple of grand. I too have seen some horrific 316's with lexus's, huge exhausts etc. It makes me cringe, this is not what Beemers are all about.

Hmm, i'm not overly convinced by the massive collection of very dated and nastily chavved up cars...specially the whale tails  :(
