Was going to send this in anon, but it’s really not that bad.
When I was around 12-13 a friend and I broke into our former primary school. I say broke in, but I actually squeezed through a tiny bathroom window that had been left open. I opened a larger window to let my friend in. We didn’t steal or damage anything, just wandered around the empty building at night, which was pretty cool and spooky at the same time. It was near the end of the summer holiday, and as such the school wasn’t open to pupils, but some staff were doing things during the day, so most of the internal doors were unlocked. We got to look in rooms where we were never allowed as pupils, like the staff room, boiler room, and basement etc. After about an hour we got bored and climbed back out of the large winder, and even pushed it closed behind us.
The friend I was with wasn’t too sharp and couldn’t keep his mouth shut. By the 2nd week back it was common knowledge around my secondary school that we’d both done this. In hindsight there was nothing to worry about as we’d stolen nothing and done no damage. It was virtually unprovable that anyone had been in there, and was likely dismissed as my friend telling tall tales. Even though, every knock at the door for a few weeks after had me worried it was the cops coming to take me to borstal! Pretty horrible feeling, and made me think twice about committing any crimes.
