OMG - how did you get that picture?????

You must KNOW her!

(Or did you use such cutting edge technology as webpages and hyperlinks?)

ROFL .... seems there's a bit of a raw nerve there lol.
Look she's over the legal limit and if she's your kind of thing then fill your boots / empty your wallet or whatever.
Not my personal cup of tea but who knows maybe you used to babysit her when she was younger or something.

OMG she is a chav etc.. etc... etc.....

Since when does looking like a chav make you a racist?!

Sounds like what the Brown Shirts did during the rise of Nazis:
Brown Shirt 1: "OMG look at her, she looks like a chav, chavs are racists!"

Brown Shirt 2: "Let us dish out some of our own punishment!"

Brown Shirt 3: "YES! We as the Liberal PC elite must educate those unfortunates!"

Brown Shirt 1: "Excuse me chav girl, hear is a subscription to the Guardian for a year!"

:D

:p

Personally I havent come across schoolkids who didnt speak at least basic English, although I wouldnt have trouble understanding Urdu myself..

My girlfriend (who is foreign-born) grew up speaking 3 languages (including English of course) and has no accent :) obviously not everyone can be like that, but I do wonder how non-English speakers manage to get along in this country...

We are looking to move house and comparing ofsted school reports etc in order to try and ensure we move to an area where the schools are good.

It is noticeable that the schools with historically good scores and ofsted reports do not have high numbers of students for whom English is classed as a second language or high numbers of kids with behavioural or learning difficulties.

I wonder why this is? Could it be that kids who can't speak English well hold back the rest of the class as do those who disrupt class?

If anyone wants to double check this then the areas we are looking at are Harpenden, St Albans, Watford and Hemel Hempstead. We are mostly looking at primary and junior schooling with an eye on senior schools.

Most immigrants come from a disadvantaged background, hence they left and tried to to make a better life somewhere else. Because they were disadvantaged, they were forced to live in poorer areas. As such you have a lot of children, 1st generation British citizens, who now do not have the support structure at home to help them improve their spoken and written English, aiding their education in other subjects. Yes this is a disadvantage to others who are fluent in the language, but it is not their fault. It is a circle which will be broken eventually, but it takes time.

Or alternatively 'You're a muslim, so you're a terrorist/gaybasher/misogynist'.

Is that the kind of shallow judgementalism you had in mind?

I couldn't really care whose fault it is, why should other peoples education suffer as a result?

No, more like "knuckle dragging daily mail readers" :)
Do you actually ever recognise your own stifling hypocrisy?

I think that's life I'm afraid. You can't please everyone all of the time. How do you suggest fixing the problem then, other than closing the borders?

Not quite.
Looking like a chav does not "nail your colours" to the mast. It is not an expression of an ideology.

There is something called the koran though which could be interpreted as how to a be terrorist/gaybasher/misogynist!

We could adopt some of the immigration policies of other countries which require immigrants to learn the language etc.

We could have specialist language schools for immigrants to get their English up to speed before they enter mainstream classes.

Then again why should anyone suffer as a result of people choosing to come here who can't speak the language and who hold up classes? That's life is not a good enough answer. No-one should have their education affected in this way so if someones English is so weak that they disrupt the class then take them out the class. Because for those pupils "that's life".
