And what is an extremist?

No-one seems to answer this. It seems more like a tag that we place on any and every Muslim if they choose to use violence, in an attempt to disassociate them from the group of 'moderates' that they were a part of the few seconds before they got violent

Syrians just burned down the danish embassy in damascus.
Syrians have set fire to the Danish embassy in Damascus to protest against the publication of newspaper cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

To chants of "God is Great," they set fire to the Danish flag and replaced it with another reading "No God but Allah, Muhammad is His Prophet"

Just how screwed up are these idiots?

I have just seen the picture of the baby girl with the I love Al-Q hat.
A gorgeous little kid with blue eyes, pale skin, blonde hair, dressed head to foot in pink western clothes and her parents gave her second name as JIHAD and claim she is the youngest member of Al-Q.
Sick twisted hideous evil people. Social services should take that poor little girl away right now, what chance does she have growing up with so much hatred around her.

Is that an English/British girl you're talking about?

Word to describe muslim reaction to the cartoon:-

Pathetic
Moronic
Thoughtless
Overkill
Pointless

This whole thing has got me EXTREMLELY angry.

I wish all these protestors in the UK would **** off back to where they came from if they dont like the western world. This is our country, and we choose to live a certain way. They either fit in, or bugger off. Its simple.
If I went to live in a hole like the middle east, I dont think you would see me taking to the streets to protest about cartoons, NOR would you see me building christain churches all over the place, NOR would you see me trying to influence societies accepted dress codes by wearing trainers in a mosk, or sending my kids to school and demanding they be allowed to wear clothes that a "Muslim" school would find improper.

Its about time we really addressed this religion crap. To use religion as an excuse is wearing decidedly thin.

All this goverment seems to do is back down like a wet teabag.

Why the HELL should kids be allowed to wear turbans to school anyway?

You want to wear turbans in school? Go to school in Iran then.

If I was a gangster rapper and worshipped the gun and money, would that mean my kids would be allowed to attend school dripping with gold?

Dont think im picking on Muslims, the same applies to any other "group" that tries to stir up this tripe.

Show some respect for where you live you hideous subspecies !!!

Whilst I sympathise with your sentiments I think that you are confusing Muslims with Seikhs (sp?).

Musilms do wear turbans mate.

Muslims hatred of us is making us hate them!!

European countries are NOT here as hotels for Muslims wanting to get rich in our economic climate.

We have nothing to apologise for. Christ, imagine all the headlines and articles in the Middle east that would offend us!

Im so angry, you just cannot try to hijack a culture like they are trying to do.

I am aware that a very limited number of muslims in the UK wear turbans however it is by far and away associated with Seikhs in this country.
Muslim school dress issues have mostly surrounded female garments.

Just to add my 2p worth. The cartoon ARE offensive and disrespectful. The same would be true in any faith. :) I'm not surprised by the reaction personally.

The cartoons might well be disrespectful and offensive but the reaction is extreme, over the top and in many cases illegal.
On the subject of respect why should I respect someones faith when the very faith is at odds with our law on issues such as homosexuality ?

That's the worrying thing, I'm not surprised either.

Edit: Evidently they attacked the Norwegian Embassy in Damascus too & are moving on the Fench one now. That really stops any argument about their intentions.

Which cartoons are you taking about? The ones showing Mohammed as a paedophile, being raped by a dog and as a pig that were drawn by Muslims and then touted around the Middle-East as the work of the Danes?
The ones of Mohammed with a bomb on his head - if you ask me that is a very valuable social critique and life has imitated art.

As far as the idea that THEY are not allowed to draw their prophet, there are no rules against US doing it. And if they aren't allowed to draw their prophet, for fear of worship - why are the Muslims who circulated and drawn the really nasty ones, why are they not protesting them?
It seems Muslims are much happier to just hate non-Muslims than a) asking whether the original cartoon was justified b) bothering to acknowledge that some of the cartoons were drawn by Muslims
