'Anti' Isalm cartoons....

Would 95% of Christians be offended by a cartoon of God or Jesus = No

Would 95% of Mulsims be offended by a cartoon Mohammed = No (IMO)

I honestly think this kind of stuff is just published to "spin" people up, christ on a bike (I wonder if that upsets Christians) there really is bigger fish to fry.

Something I'd like to add tho is that it's perfectly acceptible for Al-Jazeera and other middle eastern new organisations to show terrorists be-heading westeners. but then muslims are getting bent out of shape about a bloody cartoon.

Double standards or what

And you believe that percentage wise religion causes more misery than happiness?

In that case, I believe that you should produce some evidence to back such an outlandish assertion, or I will be forced to fall back on H0 - that you are an anti-religious zealot.

Nope, I said "it's percentages", without indicating any actual figures in an attempt to backup my arguement.

However, in my opinion, Religion causes a huge amount of suffering and misery, I would throw into the equation Northern Ireland as an example close to home, the alleged "Holy War" against the US/UK, or indeed the riots in Bradford.

I would suggest you read the posts before responding with so much aggression, it's just not Christian of you.

Actually, plenty of Christians would be offended by cartoons of God or Jesus, and I find it slightly irksome that blasphemy (Christ on a bike) is totally acceptable these days but... we're not about to start bombing or beheading or whatever. We might write a letter to the newspaper or our MP or whatever, as is our inalienable right, but we'll probably also recognise that we live in a highly mixed, democratic, largely free, secular society and that people are allowed to say and print what they like.

As for the double standards point regarding beheadings against cartoons... check out the quote from a Jordanian newspaper editor:

What brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?

Oh, quit trying to bait me. I read your posts and they had nothing to back them up besides your own personal beliefs about how much you dislike religion.. End of story.

and if your family tree indicated that 500 years ago you had a French ancestor, you would pack up and leave?

Bye then.

I think the point was it takes more than nationality on a passport to be British and that many seem like they would be much happier in the land of their ancestry, as they often seem uncomfortable with life here and aligned to foreign values

Ahar..

i saw this on Tele last night, and i can understand their anger etc... however i do find it utterly amusing

A) because its the Danish... and since when have the Danish ever been aggressive or rebelious.
B) the extremists almost immediately managed to find a Danish flag and burn it... i was literally lolling because i had a strong visual image... i reckon these extremists stockpile the worlds flags just incase of an incident like this, theyve got one on hand to burn immediately.

Overall, its just like the school playground. Dave draws James on wall with small willy.. James misses joke.. James vows to get Dave back...thats my extremely simplified analogy.

On the other hand, there are the conspiracy theories that Muslims are being taught to come here and form enclaves and deliberately not integrate, to get into parliament and disrupt things, and slowly take over Britain.

I simply believe, and personal belief and freedom of speech, I think, is the basis of a number of religions, that religion is both good and bad, and simply creates a divide in itself.

I don't dislike religion, at no point have I said that, so once again, you haven't read the posts.

The bit I found odd was the reporting of the attacks on the embassy in Jakarta, saying they threw rotten eggs at the building. Um... do people keep rotten eggs hanging around in case they need something to throw at the embassy of a country that has annoyed them?

Presumably the pedal powered 2 wheel type, and not a wanton woman with low morals?

lol at that...

I think the double standards angle puts it in context for me. Hardly anyone here bats an eyelid when video after video of our people being executed for no reason is shown but drawings are sending "some" muslims up the wall. *shakes head*

Posting rubbish like this clearly indicates that you have no idea what you are talking about. Grow up and stop being so offensive.
