'Anti' Isalm cartoons....

Sorry kid, the incitement to religious hatred laws got turned down, so I'm allowed to insult Islam all I want.
LOL. Indeed you do and long may it continue. While we are at it I have an overwhelming urge to have a go at Quakers and Buddhists at the moment. I'm saving ripping into the Catholics and Sihks for my weekend entertainment. ;)

true, but you dont see a muslim drawing muhanmed
The thing is, most people couldn't care less if they did. Draw him, don't draw him it is up to you, just don't preach to us saying we can't draw or more importantly satire or even insult something precious to you.

Making a mountain out of a mole hill IMO. Yes the drawings were not very tastefull but they have apologised get over it.

I saw pictures of some people outside that embassy this morning holding boards reading "Look out Europe, Bin Laden is coming". Blimey they want bombings in retaliation for a few cartoon pictures?

What is this world becoming?

I have a theory - I reckon its Flag making companies that have been sturring up all this racial hatred so they can sell more flags. They want these flags burnt, so wont have to deal with any refunds.

See Jumpy's excellent post above.
Just whizzed through it.

That doesn't stop it from being clearly forbidden.

Social critique makes a healthy society. Anything that cannot be questioned is inherently flawed.

Criticise? I think the word you're looking for is Insult. I'd look at the dictionary and compare the two.

One can criticise Islam all they want, as this is a thought provoking issue. I see nothing wrong with one questioning the Ideologies basis.

However, why would one want to insult the prophet directly?

Thats fine, but to draw him, knowing full well that its offensive to a large group of people, and to then get indignant when they respond in an entirely predictable way seems stupid.

Mohammed was a deceitful heretic who misled people away from the truth of Christianity.

I guess we'll find out now, won't we?

You're not making sense. Re-address this issue in another topic.

Forbidden for Muslims, I am free to draw whatever I want as is the Danish artist.

Fully knowing that you'd be insulting every muslim on this planet? Listen to yourself.

Yes. The very existence of Islam is offensive to me but I am not threatening to kill people over my views.

As far as I can make out, as a godless heathen myself, it is forbidden by islam insofar as it is considered idolatry.

The original cartoons were obviously intended to offend, and to test the boundaries of free speech.

That's all well and good, but you have to expect that people are going to be narked by the whole affair, and with today's media being so sensitive around Islamic issue, the media circus was always going to be three-ringed.

There's fruits everywhere - the media just loves to let us know who they are.

Forbidden for Muslims. Not for people who don't believe in Islam. I am at liberty to draw Mohammed all I like.

Agreed, as an atheists if I draw a funny picture or tell a joke about God, Jesus, Mohamed etc. it is unlikely to offend another atheists is it. Now its as much my right to be an atheists as it is anybody elses right to choose their beleif system. While going out of my way to offend somebody who is religious isn't "nice" the religious person should respect my right as an atheists to find the whole religion thing "barmy", they in turn can be happy in the knowledge that accordling to their beliefs (there are so many different religions I'm sure one of them must be right) I'm goin to hell.
