'Anti' Isalm cartoons....

I posted this article in SC, but thought I should here as well. It makes some very good points about all of this and how best to tackle it. IMO, this has nothing to do with "Free Speech".

Yes. The very existence of Islam is offensive to me but I am not threatening to kill people over my views.
So you clearly understand that you'd be insulting every muslim on this planet and then you're implying once a reaction has occured, you're upset that you insulted a huge percentage of Earth's population?

Smooth.

Shadow, what exactly are you advocating - that we should follow 'their' rules that they dont even bother following?

See above.

I can't tell you what you can do and what you can't. Man has a choice.

It's more than obvious, to see a reaction as of such.

I think you will find that hypocrite has a very different definition from what is offered as an opener. The article becomes increasingly abstract from there on in...

So I don't beleive in any religion, I think all religions are barmy so is that insulting to a Muslim, surely if they have the right to beleive I have the right to not?

This whole issue is pathetic and is dredging up the scumbags of society. If these protestors so hate Europe, why are they living here? Seriously, can't they all go back to their religious home if religion bothers them so much? Haven't they noticed that Europe, well, just doesn't give a crap?

Also interesting are people being interviewed, saying "we must all learn to live together" - that's wrong. These brainwashed, young, ideological protestors need to get a grip. Nuff said.

I mean, I'm all for people thinking and believing what they want but to go protesting in the streets talking about blood, bombing and beheading is, well, primitive.

"Religion is the root of all evil..."

Comparing holocaust denial laws to this is a bit of a challenge. Are we expected to stop criticising Muslims for acts of terrorism? After all, that's what the cartoons were doing.

What, exactly, is wrong with Muslims criticising these cartoons, as long as they dont break the law?

There's seems to be a lot of indignancy on this thread.

Death threats? Threats of terrorism? Flag burning? 'Anti-Dutch' rallies? Embassy attacks?

The seemingly indignant futility of it all the bad feeling over a cartoon?

Nothing at all as long as it doesn't lead to bombings, shootings and death, I think the major issue here is that we seem to feel the need to "pussy foot" around all things "Muslim" as if we don't it seems to bring out men with AK47's talking about lots of "devine retribution"

I've lost time the amount of times I've seen God/Jesus in cartoons but you don't see Christians waving guns around.

I would consider those against the law, and a disproportionate response.

Yeah as 99% of us would, the problem is the 1% that like to blow themselves up and sit at "Mohamed’s right hand", as we know all to well these people take matters into their own hands fueled by religious hatred.

Dont think Jews count as Christian, seeing as they dont believe in Christ, as they were the ones that stuck Him on the cross ?

I was trying to be funny and was actually a quote from "The Life or Brian" but you are factually correct and it would seem the humour bypass was a complete sucess (that was me trying to be funny again BTW and in no way means you've had surgery of any kind). :)

I'd guess that the idiots who have threatened violence & retribution couldn't believe their luck when the cartoons were published, after all, that's all they live for. I reckon they just mope about twiddling their thumbs waiting for something remotely offensive to their religion & beliefs and get all excited as soon as it appears. They're probably having a whale of a time right now, adrenaline rushing & blood pumping, better than watching footie.
I wonder if these people know the meaning of peace or could face living with it.
