Any opinions on o2 broadband?

if anyone else wants any, drop me a mail in trust. i actually work in tech integration/3rd line in O2 broadband.

When i signed up, the o2 guy i spoke to had no idea what fast path or interleaving was, i told him i was primarily a gamer so needed low pings, he said there was no other options on his screens, only if i wanted static ip, which i dont need.

Is it just a matter of luck when calling o2 on whether you get through to someone who knows what fastpath is and how to activate it?

So I hear. Luckily a very nice person from a forum sorted me out. Apparently the option has now been added to the CS agents systems but they don't seem to have been trained up on it.

I have just sent my details to Zombi3 now.

Is there anything I need to know about ADSL as i have had cable since broadband came out in the UK (approx).

I live 200m from the exchange and had a brand new line connected to the pole outside, the master socket is about 1 m from the computer and i do not use wireless! would this mean I am likely to get max speed? or is there something I am missing.

regards
Ade

i see that the exchange i will be in will be upgrading to 21CN very soon, 18/11/2008(ish) should i hold out till then? will it be worth it?

or by any chance will o2 be offering it?

just called bt but my new hsbc card having 18 digits has caused troubles and now i have to call em back on monday morn :/, how wierd is this !

Sorry for the slight hijack (of your hijack). Is your new 18 digit HSBC card a Solo card, or Switch/Maestro?

I'm not trying to scam you, I work for a petrol company on their card processing team and your comment caught my eye.

Cheers.

its a solo, thought it does have a maestro logo at the back.

Ok. Cheers. That might be why you have had trouble using it with BT / Online? Solo is the least 'trusted' of the payment cards.

I'm not implying anything about you : If you can think of a reason that you might have p155ed off the banks (like not paying a credit card on time, or defaulting) then that is probably why they have issued you a solo. If you have been a good chap then I'd ask them for another card on another scheme (Maestro / Visa Delta etc).

had no idea that is was the least trusted tbh,

I had this account with hsbc since young so i think that's why, maybe i will get it changed to something better. i lost my old card which was also a solo, which is why i got another with a differnt numbers on.

and it didnt go through on the other side because the field he was filling only allowed 16 digits :)

16 Digits? Poor system design tbh! :-)

Yep, it's the least trusted and therefore least accepted. For example you can't use it on many rain networks, cinemas and pay at pump petrol stations. Assuming you're over 18 then I'd ask HSBC for a new scheme. They are Mastercard for credit cards and Maestro for debit cards if memory serves. If you're actually with the First Direct 'arm' of them then they are migrating to Visa next year anyway.

But remember - life could be worse. You could have an amex card :-)

z0mbi3 do you know if interleaving can be switched off on the ipstream product? I just got off the phone with someone from 1st line support and he said that they aren't in a position to do that, on UKFSN I was able to enable/disable it at my leisure. I'm just within my 50 day period aswell and I'd rather not have to switch.

Im looking to get a ISP as just moved with the missus.

Just waiting on the BT line to be activated, then was thinking of going with BE for the 24mb broadband (hopefully as 916 metres from exchange, if not wired across leicester and back!).

What is this package you guys are talking about for £7.50? what does it include, can I only order after my line is activated? sorry to ask something that has maybe been covered in a previous page but I cannot seem to find it...

E-mail me in trust. I can register you before your line is activated.

I'm putting any furher discounts on hold for a bit now. Every one who's waiting for a mail back I'll still sort those out. I'm out of the office today but if you guys haven't recieved a mail by close of play tomorrow I'll send you the details manually.

I'll do some more discounts later on, I'm just finding it hard to keep up with the demand at the moment.

Cheers z0mbi3, defo sounds interesting.

What is the actually package you get? 12 month contract? 18 month? line speed? limit etc etc.

Sorry for being a pain :P

I've posted the details loads of times in this thread if I'm honest. Either have a look back or ask me in e-mail so I can forward you some info.
