Any opinions on o2 broadband?

Well, thanks to wicksta I'm joining o2 now now giving an almost 50% price cut from my previous be* rate (£7.50 vs £14).

One word of warning though. For some reason for my number they can't offer more than the upto 8mbps package even though I'm currently on the be unlimited package at upto 24mbps (14mbps actual and have had it for a year). I thought they used the same infrastructure? Anyway, the staff sales team werent able to help as they don't have much technical knowledge but did advise me to query it after my account is set up.

My exchange is also one of the few 21CN enabled as of august, so thats bizarre.

Probably dodgy BT records. Hopefully you can get it sorted once you're up and running.

I presume you're going onto the LLU service and not o2 access?

Can anyone help?

I've been connected to O2 today and I thought I was going onto the 16mbps package but I'm on the 8mbps one instead, this is what it says in my O2 router

Service Configuration

This section contains information regarding the service configuration currently applying to your O2 wireless box II.

Service Name: O2 Standard (modified by user)

Can I do anything about this or is 8mbps all that I can get?

Any advice is appreciated

By the way, speedtests give speeds of roughly 7mbps download and 1.1mbps upload at the moment

It is exactly the same infrastructure but as Aekeron correctly points out you are initially restricted by the BT line speed estimate. It might be worth checking with Si_MPS to see if he can change your profile.

Wicksta, is the F&F discount on Access better than the O2 Mobile user discount?

If so, I'll give you a shout when I eventually get a MAC from IC :)

Well I phoned o2 after getting connection confirmed and the guy at technical support appreciated what I said and moved me onto the ultimate package. Brilliant customer support where staff don't have to jump through hoops to do anything i.e. foreign call centres where companies place strict procedures. Probably helps that staff would be aware of a staff offer.

So will be getting upto 20mbps (hopefully 14mbps actual) for £7.50 a month.

o2 are having trouble with my MAC code from ADSL24, they say they aren't in there list of providers hence the MAC code is invalid. What else could they be known as, have tried Enta Net.

Anyone else migrated from ADSL24 to o2?

My O2 Access Broadband was activated today, thanks Wicksta for setting that up. Currently synched at 448/8128 but I can't get past 2000kbps downstream at the moment, I've done a broadband performance test using the BT tool (http://test.speedtester.bt.com:50301) and it indicated my IP Rate is set at 2000kbps. I called up O2 and they got me to run a few tests but said that I should wait a few days to see if it resolves itself before they take any action. It sounds like a stuck bRAS profile to me but I'll see if it resolves itself before taking any futher action.

I signed up to the basic o2 package about a month ago (£7.50 for 8mb) as they didn't know exactly what package they could give me until they did a proper line test. I'd be definitely interested in 20mb but they've been very vague when i've called up about the results of the line test.
If anyone working for o2 that's not busy can give me a hand that would be nice.

What sort of speeds are you getting at the moment Qeffects? The only thing is that you'll be paying quite a bit more for 20mbps if you don't really need it.

I'd also appreciate a 'friends and family' email, on behalf of a friend, if any O2 guys are still following this thread, it's done pretty well since I started it! :)

Email to: steve[at]spwright.co.uk

Cheers.

when you first sync up, we completely uncap your profile so you sync at the highest speed your line can support (at that time).

after that, if you want to up your package you can :)

Quick question because I was in a que with O2 for ages then the phone went dead and can't be bothered to ring again.

I got a text message today giving me my mobile discount code and saying to enter it "on screen" to continue with the broadband order. Where exactly do I enter this? I have looked all over after logging into the O2 page and can't find it anywhere!
