I'm not sure i agree with you that it's easy, but there is something going on there. Definitely a correlation between exam boards and quality of grades :p
 
Got 94% in C1
74% in C2
65% in D1

Missed out on an A in AQA bio unit 2 by 3 marks :(

Got a B in chemistry AS, wanted an A, so just missed out on A's overall.

I did AQA Biology in 2003 or something, back when it was likely harder than it currently is.

Biology might not be easy for everyone, but for someone who can get an A in Physics you should have managed to get the same for Biology in your sleep.
 
Two completely different learning styles, I doubt you can do well in a biology paper just from past papers. Lots of facts that you need to know, when I was doing GCSE's, I found biology much harder than physics.

Yes. I should have done better. In fact, that's probably the subject i revised for the most. I may not be great at it but i'm better than a U. Will be talking to the teachers more tomorrow to see what they think with regards to remarking/asking for the paper.

The chemistry teacher said that he was strongly considering putting the whole class in for a remark.

You need to learn lots of facts for physics as well, it just has excruciatingly difficult calculations added on top.

If I could have studied Physics without the calculations, that would have been my preferred and favourite subject, but you just cant do that so I had to do the easy science.

Don't worry about it Permabanned, well maybe the General Studies bit :p, I've got pretty similar results at A-levels after doing well at GCSEs and it's done me no harm. Well, not just yet any way. :D
 
The problem with AQA biology is that some of the exam questions are so vague that it is hard to know what they want, you can know all the content in the textbook but still get a bad grade in biology.

What I've found in newer spec a levels is that there is less to learn but the exams themselves are harder.
 
You can get into a lot of universties with an AEE. They wont be bothered at all about the Es as long at the total UCAS points are enough (I think you should have 240 points there right?).

Yea, I think you will need 3 E's on top of the A as a minimum to get onto anything somewhat decent.

I only managed to get CCDE grades myself, but that was 260 points and my Biology degree required 240-280 points, which they were happy to let me onto. A Level Biology isnt even a requirement for most Biology Degrees too, they let students who have done Chem + Physics onto them too, but I dont think you will be wanting to do one of those.

Physics with those grades ... I dont think thats possible anywhere.

It's not likely that i'd be able to do pure physics without maths anyway. There are a few courses i think i could get on that i think would interest me, geology/astronomy stuff etc. but i'm not entirely sold on the idea of uni anyway. We'll see what happens.
 
Biology isn't a requirement for a biology degree?!?!

I'd rather not study in such a place, personally :o

Also I don't know where the suggestion that you redo a level material in first year comes from, unless you did some pretty insane mega a-level. The step up is enourmous!
 
I got a C for my Higher Biology, which was probably due to the way the papers were marked. In classes I did fine, but the the marking scheme was brutal with how precise you had to be and the terms/words they picked out. I knew it all, but obviously it wasn't enough as I couldn't put it down exactly how they wanted it. Same thing happened in my prelim, really. Knew it all, but didn't write down exactly how they wanted it with certain terms and words choices, got penalized because of it.

Meh. A C isn't all that bad.

Nitefly: Actually from what I gather, they do go over A level material to refresh/reteach students to a Uni standard before moving quickly on.

Btw just a heads up, you can still get in uni with those! I ****ed up in mine I did retake one and I got in nicely. Anyway that looks like AS level right?

Don't think so. It could have been a few years before someone took a course at uni, or perhaps their A level teaching wasn't so good, so they might not be as prepared as they could. The entire first year won't reteach you the stuff, nope. But I do believe they'll spend a bit going over it to refresh you.

And in Scotland, I believe an Advanced Higher is essentially a first year uni course?
