Anyone from Milton Keynes

Oh, you wanna play this game?

Ok, let's dance :D

I've been to:

  • London
  • Amsterdam
  • Paris
  • Barcelona
  • Antwerp
  • Johannesburg
  • Cape Town
  • Cairo
  • Abu Dhabi
  • Melbourne
  • Sydney
  • Zurich

And that's all I can remember of the top of my head. I can honestly say that of the lot, London is one of the best.

Paris is a dump. Barcelona pretty nice cleaner. Zurich nice. The others aren’t really known to be world leading cities.
I would move to north Europe but lack of Sun.
I’d live in Barcelona we were thinking about moving there.

In the case, you will need to look further afield. Beyond Tattenhoe, a place called Kingsmead. There is also a set of new builds towards Stony Stratford by Crownhill, it's that new I don't know the estate name. All I know is that it's huge!
Wavendon
Stratford Fields
Upper Weald

Westcroft
Tattenhoe

I'm not actually sure what the area is called. I live near Wincanton Hill and Chepstow Park but I'm tucked off in one of the one way cul de sac so it's very quiet. I believe we're quite literally on the edge of Bletchley, can't get much further out. As it's a very old part of MK it's actually got a little more community. I believe it was swallowed up by MK as it grew but I could be wrong. Admittedly the centre of Bletchley is very rough, reminds me of being in Sheffield, home sweet home :p.

Yea I'm not a fan of the town centre, mainly pound shops, bookies and charity shops :p
Some decent fast food here though.

Tattenhoe Park and Oxley Park are recent estates added to MK. My brother lives in Whitehouse and it has a ton of new houses. Newton Leys is also fairly new.

But it does impact property values.

It would if it was actually in the estate, but it's in its own estate and you'd never know it's there.

House prices are pretty strong in Oxley - https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-77953276.html

Was looking at House around Randall Avenue. How far walking to the station.

I'll come back to you later with questions. Mk 17 is that a good area?

Yes, mostly just outside of MK proper so you'd likely be going into a village or 'just outside of town' development. Used to live in MK17 myself, now in Brooklands.
Love Milton Keynes, not necessarily to visit, but to live, it's great, very practical, lots of green spaces etc and decent traffic system, even in rush hour you're rarely stuck for long which is so nice after experiencing other places. Only places which are failing a bit at that are some of the roundabouts with traffic lights; and sometimes the councils have not always kept the ethic of freeflowing traffic in mind, but honestly it's still pretty decent. Also have the likes of Costco, Ikea etc here which is very nice as they are more limited outside of the London area; so people sometimes travel for miles for the Ikea for example.

The part about it feeling like American suburbs, just more closely situated and connected is pretty apt and yes I believe some American town design influence did go into the design of MK 50 years ago. Just avoid the junk inner city areas (which are in need of redevelopment really as the houses were only meant to last so many years) and most of it is pretty decent. Prices in MK are higher than most surrounding towns/villages like Bedford or Leighton Buzzard for a reason.

Have a London job myself, and don't want to move even with the travel.

I would say much as it has decent transport links, personally I'd advise to not live in Leighton Buzzard it's not as nice overall, MK itself is much nicer to live in.

I live in a small town not all that far from Milton Keynes. MK is a bit of a hole, I don't like the place and personally wouldn't live there. I don't mind living near it, there's plenty of shops so we can do most thigns we need to there.

Commuting is horrific though, the morning trains are a nightmare. I don't use them often and as it's on expenses I travel first class but getting a seat isn't going to happen unless you take the stopper to Euston that takes about an hour.

Just wondering do the cinemas have mid night viewings? The only thing about moving out of London not being able to shop at whole foods for some of the foods I love, I would have to drive into London to stack up.

As long as it has a decent quality gym with pool, a Waitrose, late night cinema, placed to jog and laid back natives I will be happy.

Sounds like you'd like David Lloyds fitness club.

Cinemas are some of the best in the country in MK. Cineworld with superscreens and 4DX and Odeon with iMax.
