Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

Probably because AMD are focusing on selling CPU's and console chips.
Sure but you can't have it both ways :p Either AIBs can't get enough parts to make cards or AMD just isn't making enough GPUs.

AIBs aren't having problems making nV cards at a rate about 5x (or more) the rate of making AMD cards.

There are drops for nV cards quite regularly. Drops for AMD cards are a huge, once-in-a-lifetime event :p

AMD wil have to increase their gpu output at some stage otherwise there is risk of partners AIB's leaving them due to lack of products to sell. Cross vendor AIB's won't have a problem but Sapphire, XFX, and Powercolor won't be too happy.

I honestly don’t think it’s too hard to find if you use the discord sites.

I’ve had a 3090 fe 1399
6800 - 670
3080 zotak, 840
6800xt xfx merc - 860
3070ti ASUS oc - 540

and a couple of 3090s which I returned as they were garbage compared to the fe.

sold all of them all at cost price to happy folk but literally all I did was sit on discord and be quick on the draw. It’s crazy though that in the last week prices have gone up massively, last week 6800xts were going for 800-900 depending on card, now they are all around a grand

Have seen loads of cards via the discord alerts, you can get a card if you are willing to pay the premium and keep an eye on the channel. You need to be quick and not too fussy on the brand/model though.

Yeah it's not hard to be scalped :p

The people here are the people waiting to buy one without feeling like vomiting after pressing the "buy" button :p

I get it's supply and demand but this is an interesting point I was considering. Sony Playstation 5 and XBOX series X are all in major demand and supply is constrained probably more than PC GPU's but here's the thing - I don't see companies selling these for much if anything over the MSRP. So what is the difference? There shouldn't be one and it's why I am holding out and will continue to do so. I want a 3080 at £700 - £750 and the FE goes for £695 so I'll wait. Until I see those prices again.

This is probably the new normal for pricing, everyone loves that saying now the new normal and I am sure companies will be happy with it too. How will prices return to 6month-year ago? They are what they are now, they are still selling, so any new products down the line won't just start being cheaper... At least I'll comfort myself with these thoughts after paying over the odds anyway, or did I just pay what the future is going to be who knows.

As the saying goes, "Nothing is so permanent as a temporary program"

The world financial situation is in the toilet and will be for years, UK wise we have the Brexit mess and Covid to clear up, if people think £300 GPUs are around the corner then frankly I think they're living in cloud cuckoo land.

To be fair current pricing is pretty much in line with last gen pricing and the 2000 series was pre COVID. I’d say they have a taste for it now and launch pricing was nothing but a means to make it look appealing on paper.

Honestly I am not impressed with this sort of behavior. It doesn't exactly help other people if there are those who are just buying everything that comes up.

He sold them on at cost price what is the problem?
Well I guess it's better than selling them at a higher price, but it still seems somewhat ridiculous to tie up so many cards for weeks when most people can't find any at all. It's like "I'm buying not because I need but because I can".

He has every right to make sure he’s getting the product he wants especially when prices are as high as they are.

The cards are obviously available to buy so someone else has had an equal chance to buy. I’d rather him buy and sell multiple cards at cost price than scalpers making profit for doing nothing.

The whole situation is a mess so it’s everyone for themselves atm.

Problem is most of those prices he listed are highly inflated. Ridiculous to pay £860 for a 6800XT when it should be around £680 for AIB cards. Eventually all those desperate enough to pay such prices will get their cards and sellers will have to reduce prices to inventory when demand falls off.

Yep you have 3060ti’s going for 3070 money and 3070’s going for 3080 money and so on.

I’m set for 3-5 years now I can just sit back and play and make sure I get moneys worth. I honestly can’t see things getting better for a while, pc gamers are getting a raw deal at the minute.

Just out of curiosity. I had a look on auction at a few rx580 cards up for sale there, hows this for madness, 1 x sapphire pulse rx580 4gb just sold for £203 s/h!
If you think thats dumb, theres 2 x 580 8gb already up £240 s/h, and one of 'em still has a few hours to!
If thats not an indication prices/supply/demand are out of control, and desperation/resignation I don't know what is.
