Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

If everyone just refuses to buy from the scalpers, the scalping ends.

I honestly think there's a lot of scalpers sitting on an 'investment' at the moment, hoping supply is going to die and they'll still get the profit they'd projected, I think they're losing money by the day.

Meanwhile 2 days ago, someone paid £659 for a used ASUS ROG Strix RX Vega 64 8GB on the bay!

I'll be hanging onto my Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64 (FREE WITH Resident Evil 2, The Division 2 & Devil MayCry 5) that I bought from OCUK back in Feb 2019 for £399.95 for some time yet it seems.

AMD will claim to have helped extend its useful life as FSR will work with your Vega. Looking forward to trying it on mine

It's already reached that point with some CPU's. I just bought a 5800X from the rain forest for less than MSRP and there 99 other options listed.

Some are trying to get creative and offer a tube of thermal paste when you buy one of their overpriced 5800X's. lol

Warranty is usually not transferable

That being the case then you would have to be desperate to buy from a scalper. Interesting though I would have expected some kind of legal requirement that warrantee is transferred. Otherwise who would ever buy a car second hand from a private seller - other than an old banger.

You cannot compare those two things as they are very different. Furthermore, the warranty stays with the car regardless of the owner. The length of that depends on the manufacturer.
I believe that the warranty follows the product if not with the retailer than with the manufacturer.

Buy it now prices on 3080 Ti’s are at £1,650 range, so it’s getting there.

I think for GPU’s it’s a case of proof of purchase (original receipt) is required. Then you got the hassle of sorting out any warranty claims as the new owner with someone else’s name on the receipt.

So I would rather buy direct from a retailer or out of warranty GPU’s (older GPU).

I’ve given up for now. It’s just the boys have ruined it for everyone. If you look on eBay, there’s over 300 3080s on there, over 300. Not including the 3070 or others, just the bog standard 3080. Yet I can’t buy one from a retailer. It’s not even about meeting demand anymore. They’d need to produce enough cards for scalpers and normal buyers before it’s not worth it for scalpers any,ore

Did you see the 3070ti on ebay for £2000, don't blame you handing on to your Nitro+. I still remember buying a card 10+ years back for £400 from OC and thinking that was expensive..

it does feel like the GPU market is going thru what the live entertinment industry was going thru a few year about with how bad ticket touts got
is there anything to learn from them?

Lucky sod! What’s the first game you are going to play?

Was worried about the psu connection etc, but installation was super smooth from GTX 1070Ti, updated drivers etc, going to try Cyberpunk 2077 first just for the gfx :D Need to purchase some games with race tracing. The performance seems to be twice as good now compared to my old gfx.

Think I have. I had one of the 3070 in my basket at a few minutes past 2 yesturday but decided against hitting buy. Ive not used the PC really over the last few weeks with the current heat. Who wants to sit infront of a PC while the weathers so nice?

Think im done till September time and ill start looking again. Maybe Ill regret not pulling the trigger on the card yesturday. O well its just a GPU not live or death like some people are making out on here.

Anyone else just given up trying to look for a new GPU and resigned themselves to waiting for a while? I'm fed up just endlessly checking stores online and just given up trying. Going to spend my time more constructively online. I'll wait until Easter and try again.

This didnt age well, ha. Im certainly not paying double price for a GPU. The madness has lasted throughout Easter and then some. My guess is end of this year there'll be an ease and gpus closer to RRP.

(I really hope this post ages well, ha)
