Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

There will always be people that have the money to spend on scalper prices, so it's a waiting game until the market is left with gamers who are holding out.
This. And GPUs seem to have hot caught up in the whole FOMO hypebeast nonsense that plague other goods that should be commodity items. Anyone for a Yeezy GPU?

That is the crux of the problem. And while scalpers keep buying up retailers stock over gamers buying then people feel forced into using well known auction sites.
I still don't get why anyone feels they must spend three or four times RRP. I bought a refurb RX580 for 80 quid a few months ago for my son. Can't believe how much they go for now.

Very true, but NVIDIA do a good job of getting the hype train going. As long as the crypto prices stay low, things should improve (or that's what I say to myself).

They certainly seem to. Someone earlier said they're constantly getting Nvidia adverts in their social streams. I don't fortunately. I'd find that most annoying.

Could be a real mess as AMD 7000 might be out around then, imagine people trying to ditch the 3080ti they paid scalpers £2k for to get a Radeon 7900xt, https://youtu.be/dL1VbthX0oA?t=774

I think people are going to get a reality shock next round. Stop listening to people like him that make rubbish up.

It's one reason why I keep looking for 3090s. A 3070 is selling for 100% markup, 3080 is selling for about 200% markup, while the 3090 is selling for more like 40% markup.

Which is weird, as it means there are 3090s selling for less than 3080s... and people are buying them. Even though (as far as I can figure out anyway) there are no advantages to getting the 3080.

At the moment I still run 2 x 780GTX in SLI and it doesn't meet minimum spec on the new releases, Not to mention that SLI is dead. I'll just be console gaming until the whole situation sorts itself out.
So yeah I've given in for the time being.

Damn someone should have warned me SLI was dead... https://www.overclockers.co.uk/forums/posts/34846430/ ;) . Depends what you are doing with Nvlink, some games still work and for work related tasks it's a godsend. SLI profiles are dead and that's because new way to do multi GPU now and hoping to see some more game support in the future as Devs update their engines to support it in the new format.

Is there a way to actually look for those cards close to MSRP? I've been monitoring few websites since few months before with no luck. Tried to grab 3070TI but it was gone in seconds. Is there any other way than being suscribed to stockinformer?

Rent a bot.

They've actually been in stock for over 24 hours now, which must be a record. Unfortunately I'm here with money in my pocket and no way to purchase a card from them lol.

How is it good for work related tasks? NVLink doesn't let you pool memory (unless you're using a quadro), unless they've changed the specifications for it since I last checked. Linking together two 2070s still gets you only 8gb of working vram. Sure, you will run renders at (almost) twice the speed of a single 2070, but you'll also be using twice the power and outputting twice the heat.

In any case, you're better off with a single 3070.

In your case you're using 2x 3090s, which I guess is an edge case, as there's no single card that can match that (yet, anyway). Are you actually getting 48gb of usable vram though, or just 24?

Having RDNA ready for 2022 fits in with the AMD roadmap, how much slippage there is in that we will have to wait and see

AMD RDNA 3 Release Date, Price And Specs [June 2021] (gpumag.com)

AMD are said to have booked production with TSCM for RDNA 3 in 2021/22. (Intel are said to have done the same for their desktop GPU)

TBF - I never even knew OClockers HAD a forum, let alone an upper echelon reserved for the faithful!
But I'm really happy they're doing their best to try to get GPUs to gamers, not scalpers.
I've joined in case it helps with the next round of releases, but I'm actually kinda happy to find somewhere new to talk PC gaming :)

It's better to stay without a computer than to pay more than 200% the MSRP.

This is all very artificial and very unfair towards the 'poor' customers.

AMD and Nvidia must be sued for this situation.
