Anyone non-panic buying?

unpalatable truth - brexit contribution to Irish food shortages pales into insignificance versus role in poor policemans shooting ( Boris/DUP hope you sleep well)

Your post is honesty more cringe.

Cringe is barging into this thread with this, stating its the cause of Brexit(I don't care either way btw)
Brexit Britian strikes again.

The bots are out quick today!

Brexit has made it much harder for other countries to trade with us. There’s so much more red tape and cost involved in bringing goods here that the countries diversify and go elsewhere where it’s easier to trade. Like the EU. With poor weather, everyone needs more from North African countries. If you’re a tomato exporter in Morocco, are you going to sell your product into a market that’s easy to do trade with (EU) or a market that isn’t (UK)?

Then backtracking with 'its making it worse'

You fanatics are really that invested that you can’t accept Brexit, for the reasons I and others have said (namely trade barriers) may have made a bad situation worse. Sure it’s weather related but as I’ve said, trade barriers due to Brexit have made things worse.

Again, Brexit isn’t the only issue but it’s making it worse.

Isn't there already a containment thread for tenous stuff people try and link to brexit?

The Real IRA, Continuity IRA and the I can't believe it's the New IRA were never on a ceasefire and have been sporadically shooting people over the years regardless, not to mention it's some unionists who are angry about how NI has been dealt with.

Anyway, this is supposed to be a thread about panic buying the brexit winge fest is in another sub-forum.

Some egg farmers are closing. No EU bursaries now.

Economists did warn people that Brexit would 1. Cause price rises and 2. Supply issues. Both are here. Some of the causes is the idiot Putin.

Everyone over 75 (in 2016) i know voted Brexit for immigration. Have you seen plane loads of people flying back to Poland or Romania?

Economists 2 Those who believed every word in the Daily Mail and Express 0.
The same economists that keep getting their forecasts wrong, they can't forecast anything.

Now it costs 5 million a day to house migrants, that is rather a modest figure, most likely 2x or more that figure. Then take into account departments that deal with them and resources redirected.

These are real costs these are real problems.

You can blame anyone, the reality is the weather is to blame.
We can blame the lazy farmers, they could work more, lol.
But then we could farm turnips, and make soup.

I'm not but I find it strange that a bottle of sparkling Black currant and rasberry Rubicon cost more than a can of lager. I do actually drink Rubicon sparkling back currant andraspberry water as it's a good alternative to coke

The shelves were ok last night tbh but tend to buy frozen mixed veg in bulk anyway for the utility chest freezer, if we had the sheep tourists down in force it would be different

Fully stocked up here as well to be honest, unlike toilet rolls I guess its harder for the DM to whip people up into a frenzy for a salad ingredient.

Just looking at your forum name, I find your post quite ironic!

As with all the shortages we've had, Brexit (more specifically the hard Brexit, no single market) makes an existing problem worse.

It's not true to say that Brexit is the cause of our shortages, but because of Brexit we will be hit the worst and for longest.

Suppliers with a surplus of a product will happily sell to a 3rd country, but as soon as there is a shortage, the market with the higher trade friction (paper work and boarder delays) will lose out.

I can't find a cucumber for love nor money, my brother lives in Paris and sent a picture of supermarket shelf full of them.

Don't underestimate their ability to try!
