Anyone quit WoW and looking forward to going back?

I really feel like I missed out on something with WoW - I just never got into it. I trialed it, several times, but I spent pretty much my whole MMO phase on free MMOs, Thang for the most part, but a lot of others too. It's not something I'd hasten to correct in my gaming history, but rather something I've accepted as a missed opportunity and let lie.

Don't sweat it. If this was 3 years ago, I'd be saying "get into it". But starting WoW now would be stupid. If you're a casual gamer, you'll be levelling for months. And if you haven't gotten bored by the time you reach the level cap, you'll be overwhelmed by just how much there is to do once you're there.

I was watching some of my level 60 and 70 raiding videos earlier and felt the want to return and healing again, however I have no healing gear and have not for the life of me time to collect any at a speed I would enjoy!:o

It's just not the same game now though.

I had a LOTRO trial ages ago and I found it pretty good. The graphics were amazing. I think I was just to addicted to WoW so I couldn't really get fully into it. :/

It's genuinely halarious how people refer to WoW as something you have to 'quit'. There is a far more serious underlying problem here methinks!

It's true. I was very very addicted to WoW for a number of months. It sucks you in and it took a lot for me to quit.

I started the trial last night - didn't enjoy it at all, I've been playing Aion and I love it, really nice game, probably less to do etc but it's my only experience of mmos and I was expecting wow to be better considering it's more popular. I'm a level 5 human palladin - should I stick it out through the trial and see how I find it, or should I give up and just play Aion?

I just wouldn't even bother starting WoW from scratch now to be honest. So much levelling to do and so much to catch up on, it'd seem daunting to me.

It's worrying! I think about WoW differently than any other game: considering "getting back into it" almost feels like a relapse. It's addictive. I'd make arrangements around it, cancel plans for it, call in sick to work to play it, stay up all night to grind, etc.

I've played since the beta, played to the point of addiction in vanilla, pretty solidly at the beginning of BC, stopped near the end but came back for LK, quit again ages ago (start of summer) after doing 90% of stuff, but now I'm really looking forward to Cata and will probably even renew for the patch this week to play through the new content.

Who else has quit but can't wait to go back?

Yeah that sounds similar to me.

I played Vanillia non stop until early into TBC and quit/sold the account 1 reason due to being on the US servers.

Then I went on the EU servers because my brother got the game so joined just as season 3 just started but had to level all over again...

Ended up quitting early into season 4 after grinding a shaman non stop to 70 and raiding end game whilst competing in Arena season 4,. 4 weeks into season 4 I got fed up, sold and quit again.

Then my brother told me about RaF and that we could level fast just before LK, so did that and raided in WotlK until we fully cleared Ulduar, then after so much guild drama I got fed up, couldn't be bothered looking for another guild and quit in July..

I get urges to sign back up and Cata seems quite good for the PvP with the comments that have come from Blizz with the old BG ranking system (although not quite the same as vanilla) coming back etc etc...

But tbh I think this time I will wait for Cata to actually hit before I consider even going back, I didn't sell the account 3rd time round so I wouldn't have to level all over again.

I did most of that, the only exception was not skipping work for WoW.

Nope WoW is lost beyond redemption . I could rant on why but not worth the effort :)

but it was awesome back in the days

I cannot be bothered with WoW anymore.. seriously bored me a** off playing that game.
Now you have so many stupid egotistical elements to it i.e. "The Achievements".
No achievement no party rule sucks as it meant players trying to come back into the game will have to grind and farm for ages before they are ready for the end game action, but by then they would look down on your gear and item levels.. The latest expansion looks like it has very little to offer.

I think WoW has had its years, I cannot see it surviving for long with the way it's going.
Can't wait for Diablo III though!

Still the best MMO out there, regardless of the slagging off that is going on. Other MMO makers would give their testicles away freely to have WoW's subscriber base, brand awareness and pure skill to make this type of game.

Saying that, I won't go back until a few months into Cata as I can't be asked with the formula anymore of grinding, gear, new patch, gear becomes irrelevant, new patch, gear becomes irrelevant, new patch, gear becomes irrelevant, etc. For me WoW has run its course and I cannot go back 'home', so to speak. I can still highly highly recommend it to anyone since it can be such an incredible journey.

Reading through this thread reminded me I still had an open subscription running, so dug out my password and cancelled :D Thanks!

I was addicted to this game for months/years. Recently though the game killed itself for me :)

RIP, i won't be back, and have only rejoiced since i quit.

Havnt played much for the last 8-9 months really but i do pop in every 2-3 months see whats happening, i've played it since launch so its obvious getting old too me now.
Although catacalysm does look awesome.

Regardless of what people say wow is a established and great game, lots of content.
But at the same time its surround by discrimination by a lot of players, even from these forums.
Not everyone is chinese and plays 20 hours a day like people think, there is such thing as moderation.

Thats not the games fault

Always love how people say they 'quit', its not a job!

I played a trial of WOW but never saw what obviously a hella lot of people saw in it, maybe I never gave it enough time.

I had an epic character called Plastic Bag he could have been a champ.

Exactly the same mate apart from I am not going back. I have better things to do than burn away my life on that grindfest.
