Anyone quit WoW and looking forward to going back?

When WoTLK came out, it just ruined it for me. I loved TBC so much, mainly because back then I had my guild, all my guild mates and we were a pretty decent team and cleared most raids.

When WoTLK came out it just didn't feel like WoW at all. I got a couple of 80's and quit after clearing most of Uld and haven't bothered to go back.

I do miss the older times in WoW though, they were my best gaming times.

Had the same feeling to be honest. I really loved the instance structure in TBC and heroics actually being quite hard and quite unforgiving to mistakes. I use to farm heroics with a group of none guildies who i got to know really well and we all got use to each others playstyle so we could farm heroics for a few hours on a night to get some nice items. I also did abit of "hardcore" raiding and saw all of the content and thought for the most part, it was really good and quite epic when it came to fights like kael in TK.

Wotlk just lacked a certain charm when it came out. Whilst I liked the choice of which bit to start in, most of the quests where complete rubbish. I had 5 level 80s before I quit the game and 4 of them had uldaur or above gear level, basically from desperation to try and get the good feeling of playing it back. Won't be going back to it in cata or any of the patches though.

Left the game at the end of august

I stopped subbing last month and although I enjoyed the chat with guildies it was beginning to get a bit boring. Still a great game for me as I work nights and have to stay up late the night before and there are always people on playing but I got a ps3 and mw2 and that has taken up my free time for the moment.

I loved the game back in the days of class raids in UBRS and the likes. PVP in the old AV was great, pvp before battlegrounds was even better. Open beta town raids anyone?

TBC killed the game for me but still played on for about 8 months then quit, tryed WotLK a few months back which seemed much better than TBC but not as good as the old World. Arenas, heroic dungens, class balance, AV dumb down and playing a shaman. Thats some of what has ruined the game.

Im tempted to go back for Cataclysm, still have a lot of friends playing so it wouldnt be hard for me to find somewhere, but it will really depend on where the game is.
I mean the whole new world revamp, opening up new areas etc is a good touch, and one I think that was definately needed, Im almost amazed they didnt offer something like an optional high res texture update as even that would have helped tremendously!

That said I played on the UK servers from about a month after the game came out in the UK, got hooked by some sixth form friends, and then I ended playing up almost solidly with a few minor breaks til I stopped playing about 6 months ago, I knew a lot of people in high end guilds, and was only in 2/3 guilds so had some old online friends, but the game was become stale after playing for the best part of 4 years, so I let everyone know I was leaving, stopped playing and eventually sold the account.

WoW was a truly amazing game with a sense of exploration and glory etc, but unfortunately it turned more towards grind as time went on and lost the 'epic' feeling it started with.

Whether I go back for Cataclysm will really depend on whether that's changed, or whether it's still the by numbers routine that WotLK became (even though by rights it should have been more interesting than TBC). If there's enough fresh content and stuff that looks interested or about exploration, rather than just about grinding quick dungeons, then I might be interested, but thats a big if.

Blizz could really do with revamping the engine now if Im honest, the game isn't about graphics, but it does look old in comparison to other games out there (and doesnt perform as well as it should either).

I would go back if, as mentioned, they fix the different class-roles again. It was fun when you actually HAD to have the different classes for whatever debuff so on. Im sure you all know.
Remember the shaman shortage at brutallus? It was still fun because you had to co-ordinate abit atleast.

Wotlk basically ruined it for me. Im one of those people who want reward for those that put time in, so when everything was so to say available it kinda ruined it.

And 10 mans of the same instances = lazy way of creating more things to play IMO.

But we all know thats never gonna happend again :)

I have to dis-agree. The engine is more than capable for the art direction WoW is and should remain.

Hints of realism are not required nor desired in the Warcraft genre.

The 12 months that I played wow on release has been the best (and worse) experience i've ever had gaming. When I think about it now it was magical - the people I met (good and bad), the instance runs Scholo/strat, MC, uBRS, Onxyia, WSG, AB, the mayhem at BRS getting into MC in PvP.

I quit before TBC because I could see where it was going, and wont be ever going back.

Its probably like going back out with the girlfriend you knew at school who is now 30+.

Quit a few months back and despite the new things I've seen, I still have no intention of playing it again. I have low self control so its better to just not play it at all.

Im not talking about upping the realism, Im talking about making it look better, sometimes they go together, but they dont have to. There are areas where it looks REALLY ropey, like textures stretched 20 times too large and it looks awful. Im not on about changing the art style, that works perfectly well, but doesnt mean it couldnt look a lot better, better textures, more detailed art, more details in the environments, more fantastic lighting etc etc
The game could keep the style but up the detail levels and it'd do fine.

There's also the fact that a lot of the engine is very poorly performing due to age, and you sometimes have to throw much more raw performance at the game to get what you really should be able to out of it, again aside from graphics, another area where an engine revamp would be welcome, to improve efficiency and cut out some of the old code. WoW is MUCH heavier on your system than it was at first release, and not all of that is down to graphics.

I've been playing Warcraft since 1994 so Im not exactly an ardent hater of the games or the blizz style! :p

Even though I haven't played in ages, I still check the news on MMO Champion almost every day. How sad is that? :p

It still baffles me how people can be so addicted to pay fees every month for a rubbish game.

'Tis just crack on a PC screen.

The game was once the dog's dangles and is still a good game in its own right. No one is addicted to paying a fee and the fee itself is nothing realy. People are addicted to the game because they at one point enjoyed playing it and are hoping to enjoy it again. Those that do enjoy it are not addicted they are having fun.

Theres too much stereotepe

Some kind of Tapas you say

There is stereotyping with WoW because for the most part, it is right. Just check out the offical WoW forums for confirmation ;)

ZOMMMMMMGGGGG NINJA AGAIN, plox dunt grp with dis guyz they kicked me ....NERRRRRRRRRRRRD RAAAAAAAGEEEEEEE
