Anyone quit WoW and looking forward to going back?

The game of life my friend.

I find getting up, having a shower, cleaning my teeth, taking a dump, going to work, cooking tea etc etc interspered with a few high points that I look forward to is a bit of a grind. What are you doing that provides this constant variety that my life seems to be lacking?

Your problem is that you have been de-sensitized to the magic of life with your boring daily routine. You need to build your concentration and awareness using meditation techniques so that over time your life becomes a gift, not the tedious humdrum that you wake up to every day and feel that your only means of happiness is another tawdry 5 hour grind on WOW.

....well you asked.

I'd rather play WoW than sit writhing in ecstasy as I take my morning cack.

Not that I play WoW that much these days.

2 months after i left wow i was thinking waw i would get lvl 70+ (Burning crusade era) but i actually got 65 then quit xcoz of time restraint.

I quit about a month ago. Depending on how much free time I've got left I might be going to reroll for Cataclysm.

Twas a good game :)

Used to play during WotLK. As soon as I started reading about Cataclysm I thought "oo can't wait to go back and play for another month or two" but then the reality of having to get my gear up to standard to be able to actually get in groups struck and now I don't think I'll bother.

The gearing up process is much improved now. Back in Vanilla/early TBC days you could find yourself 3 tiers behind raiders and there'd be nothing you could do about it without joining a raiding guild (or pvping for pvp gear).

You still have to spend time on it, but there's always a way to gear up a character fast either through the Auction House (needs gold), epic-only instances (Trial of the Champion and previously Magister's Terrace) or badges (takes time but you can get a lot of badges in a day if you're a tank or healer).

I'm not saying you can ding 80 (or 85) and immediately do well at the hardest raid content, but my Pally can tank or heal Trial of the Crusader 25 with kit gained from badges and the AH in about 6 days /played from hitting level 80.

Blizzard have stated that they don't want an insurmountable wall blocking the progress of new players or rerollers. You'll always be a tier behind the hardcore raiders (unless you join them), but you won't be a world apart.

I've never played WoW, only because i hate the graphics. but i've watched my friends play it. If they updated the graphics and little aspects of the gameplay, i would give it a whirl, but LOTRO is without a doubt a better game in all aspects.

I've still not played WoW, and I don't plan to

Mr Stuart from this forum said my life may cease to exist if I play it, and to steer clear!

It looks like Diablo 2 on steroids (in a good way)

I loved WoW back in its classic days, when people were first clearing Molten Core. PvP was generally quite balanced. Raiding was fun, people killed the bosses for glory rather than items. Now it's just a grindfest that numbs the mind. Sad, but true. Saying that, I might get Cataclysm anyway because I enjoy the story. I imagine I'll finish the quests, do the levelling, and leave again.

Because you only play games for graphics ;)

And no offence but LOTRO is not a better game, by any regards.

Gameplay wise WoW has absolutely nothing wrong with it..

Thats debatable though, a person could say that the story and lore in LOTRO is better, and that the average maturity level of the userbase is better. Though its all largely personal in terms of which is "better". From my viewpoint I would certainly say that there are aspects of LOTRO which are better than their counterparts in WoW and that there are aspects of WoW which are better than their counterparts in LOTRO.

I dont play either any more, but if I had to I would opt to play LOTRO over WoW, largely (but not only) because of the different "quality" of userbase.

Started playing it again about a month ago after a long break, loving it quite frankly. Enjoying the best bit of the game, the 1-20 level, raised three characters to decide which to take forward. Play about an hour a day, no stress, pvp in warsong gulch, no reading the forums to hear the bitchin about how the class is nerfed, just having fun. Deathknights seem a lot of effort but ill have a crack at one if i bore of the lower levels. Looking forward to the patch for the easy PUG dungeon crawls, if i read that right. Must agree about the userbase, seems a lot of kids play and get very excited...

LOTRO is a great game, love my bard but different games. I find the combat in LOTRO less engaging than WoW (especially my wow rogue) but graphics and userbase are better. Will probably dump it all for ST anyway.

Tbh the only contender i see is Aion, and its its current state the small slaws are too much imo.
The new patch hopefully should change that though.
