Anyone run a 1080ti with an i7 930?

just get a second hand x5650(oc to 4GHz) and get GTX1070 instead of the 1080ti, overall I think you will get better(and more consistent) performance than 930+1080ti and also it will cost you much less.

Cheers dude :)

I will give it a try.

I love my current monitor just wish it was higher refresh.

I only use headphones with my PC. I have Sennheiser PC161s at the moment, they are very good, but they are open backed. Which are horrible at LANs so I want to get something that will block out the sound of the LAN I have a set of Technics RP-DJ1200s which I could potentially use. They are old but were very well regarded back in the day. I don't know if they will still hold their own against the likes of the Beyerdynamics DT770s or Fostex RP40s....anyone know?

Cheers,

G

Yeah I'm in a similar boat, have a 27" 1440p IPS monitor, love it, but I'm starting to wish I could get 75hz-100hz out of it. It doesn't overclock at all without frame skipping unfortunately.

I would upgrade to some DT770s; they will likely sound a fair bit better. At worst, there are probably places you can have a 60 day trial or whatever and send them back if you don't like them.

Just ran userbenchmark....

UserBenchmarks: Game 144%, Desk 135%, Work 106%
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K - 108.1%
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti - 184.8%
SSD: Samsung 960 Evo NVMe PCIe M.2 250GB - 226.2%
SSD: Mushkin Chronos 240GB - 53.2%
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 500GB - 108.4%
HDD: WD Blue 500GB (2008) - 37%
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 C15 2x8GB - 95.6%
MBD: Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO

/edit Honestly no clue if that's actually good LOL but I'm happy with it :D Said I had a record breaking GPU score so although I should probably take that with a pinch of salt I'm happy enough :D

I'm completely blown away by how good this rig is, every game is awesome on the highest possible settings, especially now I've overclocked my monitor to 75hz :D

I have a Gigabyte Z170M Gaming 5 motherboard and the onboard sound with the additional software is a lot better than a DGX I tried in there. Onboard sound has come along way. I had to go to a Soundblaster Z to notice an upgrade on sound clarity.

I put my DGX back in in the end, it's much better than the onboard on mine imho

Sorted out the GPU sag ghetto McGuyvor style.

Removed HDD cage, moved HDD to under the DVD bay and mounted the SSDs out of the day of the fans, looks stupid, but my case doesn't have a window so I don't care.

Added a fan where the HDD cage was and it's taken almost 20c off my GPU temps :D

Got 3 fans pulling air in now, because there is no door underneath a LOT of air comes in through the bottom fan.

Tempted to change the green fan on the left to pull air in too as when I feel behind the case it doesn't seem to be putting out much heat.
