Anyone Using an Asus DSL-AC68U

I'm extremely happy with how it's performing for me, not one drop out since I installed it and pings have dropped and upload sync rate increased to full.

I'm willing to try the next firmware to see if that offers any more stability and give back my full download speed.

I bought a D6400 to try and the modem side works flawlessly. No VPN and the Wi|Fi side is a bit iffy to me with throughput for some reason. Both those things are a big no for me. I may try a factory reset.

If only the Asus had the modem of the Netgear...

Anyone know when the next firmware release is due?

Just had my first slight issue SNR down was fluctuating all over and web pages wouldn't load, even went down to -2.2

It's hovering around 6 now though.

Are those CRC errors anything to worry about?

I've set ESNP back to default to see if that fixes it as setting it to stable seems to lower SNR?

Edit: SNR down is still dropping really low and I've lost 20mb of my download

Read from page 55 onwards. They suggested that you have to possibly increase another setting to be able to enable the esnp function as it can knock a few dB off the snr.

Think I may go back to a two box solution.

I set ESNP back to stable and set stability adjustment to 5db (lowest amount) then rebooted, sync is back to full and I'm still on fastpath (checked with a ping test as well).

No crc errors so far and I'll increase the stability adjustment if required.

Last week i set my stability adjustment to 5db and my download went from 70 to 75mb so i agree there are good gains to be made from that adjustment!

Its a shame i had a lot of electrical work last week and i went down to 67mb and interleaved but it is slowly working itself up!

May be off no use I am not using an Asus DSL-AC68 or the recently discussed in this thread and others Netgear D6400 device but this is the result via a horrid ECI modem which is currently suffering high interleave and knocked me down by about 10Mb compared to what i would normally have before G.INP hit and ECI modems not supporting it ISP is BT....

So, from what I am reading, we are at the stage now where asus released a beta firmware that fixed the connection issues for a few but has made more issues for others. Asus seems to be nowhere to be seen now and appears to have a lack of willingness to have input into making this hardware work the way it should. Am I also correct in assuming that many are now jumping ship having lost their confidence in this door stop, or what is an expensive access point?
In order:
  • Beta software worked OK for me until it didn't (it lasted a few weeks).
  • Follow up formal release (14/04/15) didn't work well at all for me and caused DLM intervention within a couple of days.
  • Asus willingness: certainly feels that way (particularly if Jim is no longer there)
  • Ship jumping: I fear so. Mine will be on eBay this weekend. Ordered it on 26/08/14 and I have had a couple of reliable months out of it over that period but even after this time, it isn't reliable enough.

Just for an update I am still very happy with this router.
It is running the latest firmware and the only change I have made to the dsl
settings is to set ESNP to stable.
I was DLM'd originally and interleaved for 5 days and then placed back on fastpath.
I have now been of fastpath for over 10 days with absolutely no problems and I an very happy with the performance 75 up and 19 down.
I have noticed that SNR down has been fluctuating by about 3db but has not
caused any problems and the crc error counts are perfectly acceptable.

If you dont mind me asking are you with BT Infinity?

what did i miss, Jim-Asus is gone?

16 days uptime so far. Connection seems very solid, router states im on fastpath, judging by the ping I dont think so as its 17ms, fastpath usualy is 9-10ms. Something not quite right there, however im sure enough this will be addressed in some firmware. I brought it to their attention last month and was flogged off saying its down to my supplier. To me it seems its apparant they have no idea how DLM works, that is proberly why we have had so many problems.

This is what I am getting on talktalk

Anyone here using this router on plusnet? I'm switching from BT Infinity 2 to Plusnet fibre next week and if it worked fine on Infinity there shouldn't be an issue on Plusnet right?

Correct - only thing you need to do is change the username and password. Everything else works fine. If you have a static IP with Plusnet leave the settings on the router at DHCP and you will still get the static IP.
