Anyone Using an Asus DSL-AC68U

Can someone help me with this please, I put the kill spectrum command into telnet and I get this message back:
killall: spectrum: no process killed

Is this because the spectrum process is already killed because if so my CRC's are still rising when before they halted once I'd killed the process.
Cheers...

If you used killall -9 spectrum and you got that error then yes it means it was still disabled from the last time you ran that kill all.

It didn't make any difference to me, CRCs were still spiking whether killed or not.

What are your other settings? Trelis, SRA, Annex and more? Are you VDSL or ADSL? Need more info.

Hi Ixel,

I've chucked in the towel with the ASUS. Real shame though as it could be an epic unit. Can you let me know how you get on with your fritz!box? If you'd be so kind as to send me the link to your new thread I'd be most grateful as I'm now thinking of purchasing one. Many thanks!

Need some info on this router. Just bought one and it's all working fine, just want to know if there any issues with the latest firmware before I update to it.

Only just set everything up and connected to net on it and it asked me if I wanted to update, currently on firmware 3.0.0.4.376_1663

Only reason I got this router is because the BT HH3 has been giving me issues for the past month or so, it always loses the network share for my WDTV box in the bedroom, hopefully this router will be better.

All my settings are exactly as they were when I last put in the kill spectrum command. That worked fine then and my increase in crc's completely halted, problem was I accidently rebooted the modem, then I get that message now. I am puzzled...

That seems like quite an old firmware you are running.

Mine has been running great on the latest firmware, I would definitely update to DSL-AC68U_3.0.0.4_376_2160-g7518072_DSL_1.0.2.1.trx and then do a factory reset then set up the router again from scratch, then it should load in the best general defaults.

Killing the spectrum process made no difference to me but I only get around 100 CRC errors per day anyway on FastPath which is very low I believe.

Not to start same discuss again but because have not been for long time (2 of my draytek & a zyxel had updates as well) have now seen back posts about firmware hardware issue... well don't forget DLM ... the asus problem is why is causing so many errors (fec so crc)

Down here i am now (Greece) the few guys have by now this modem (still expensive here for bad economy) with vdsl reporting fairly well results with vdsl

Also for my adsl line latest firmware is fairly good for me, stable

is not that bad the modem is just something to do with its errors and because of the dlm it makes it suck for some users

I briefly tried again with the Asus for a few weeks but I found myself unable to have the confidence to just leave it doing its thing even though it appeared reasonably stable. I guess when you lose confidence in a device its incredibly hard to shake that feeling so I sold it along with my Billion and Zyxel.

At the moment I'm just using my trusty ECI/r modem with an old Netgear cable router.

Just had Infinity installed and was getting just over 70 Mbps on fast path.
Started playing with a few settings this morning, and my speed has gone down to mid 60 s and interleaved. Despite resetting the settings I am unable to get fast path back. Any ideas?

DLM has detected either too many errors or disconnects. You'll need to leave it alone for a few days and hopefully DLM will reverse the changes.

You obviously have a bit of a death wish, hope you've got an Openreach modem as you'll need it.

I can only worry if you think the possibility of losing a few Mbs temporarily equates to wanting to die.

When you say "JUST" had it installed when exactly? DLM regardless upon a first install or a line reset does not intervene for at the first 48 hours.

Going from low to mid(high mid) 70Mbps to mid 60s (typically 63-67Mb) normally means the line has had interleaving applied. Not necessarilt the fault of the Asus, my line with ISP supplied modem will now and again have a bout of brain wind and interleave my line for no reason. Typically it will take 2-4 weeks for DLM to realise its mistake and remove the interleave.

Was installed Friday of last week. Overnight the speed has gone down even further and the connection was reset.

This is why many have returned the product. In many cases including mine, it caused DLM to reduce my line from 28M to 22 MB. After 4 months of returning to the ECI, my line is now capped at 25M.

Suggest you get rid of it.

Agreed! ASUS did seem to have a bit of activity with new firmware, but it's been quite now since just after Xmas which doesn't really bode well for them fixing the issues the device has in the UK.

I'm happy back on my ECI modem with the RT-AC68U and Merlin firmware.

Well I've just ordered an ECI modem. I am on an ECI cabinet, and it is pretty close so hopefully it will work OK. I will keep the DSL AC68U and use it as a router as it is virtually the same price as the AC-68U, maybe in the future the modem will work better.
When the engineer came the HH5 was connecting at high 70s Mbits, and on speedtest I was getting 73Mbits, and the connection was showing as fastpath. Now I'm struggling to get 60 Mbits!!!

Is there a way to login to the Asus and force Fastpath??
