Anyone Using an Asus DSL-AC68U

Mr Lee seems to like a conversation, here is his latest reply:
We indeed co-work with customers in UK to look into issues been reported, many users are helpful and we really appreciate that.

Actually settings provided definitely not stock answer, settings provided based on the feedback logs of customer device after analysis. In fact there is no stock answer. Thanks.

Please kindly use the following settings instead,

- Set "Stability Adjustment (VDSL)" to 10 dB.

- Set "Rx AGC GAIN Adjustment (VDSL)" to Stable.

- Set "Tx Power Control (VDSL)" to -3 dB.

Anyone care to suggest something I can ask him?

Ask him "why after all this time is it up to the end user to get the device to even work never mind with good performance"

Currently as far as i am aware the majority of people will lose performance using this product which is just awful when you think it is sold by asus.

Got my Asus DSL-AC68U today though i think it may have an issue unless im missing something obvious. It powers on but after about 15-25(ish) minutes powers off by itself and the only way to power it up again is to either pull the power cord or flick mains switch to off then on again.

Does the device perhaps have some standby setting ive obviously missed that causes this symptom???

well done,
it seems to me power supply issue
what may also be ... the power on/off back of the modem does not touch properly so push in /out few times to make sure it will go in its position correctly (if you understand what i mean)
Also check the small jack where connects to modem if is tight

Asus has made a new beta firmware (_2182) with usb fix

I also can see a new dsl driver 1.0.2.2, but i don't know other changes
With my adsl line & the time now evening which has more noise my line, already synchronized with Max Rate Down 15+ (before 14.500)
& line attenuator 34.1 (before 35+)
Seems the dsl driver very aggressive ... so perhaps not good idea for UK users having DLM ... i am not sure about it, its my speculation ... so follow the rule ... IF it works Do Not touch (firmwares)

https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/s/F0322FE823A744EEBAAABE13F4D8D33F4

EDIT
The dsl stats page now reacting different ... before with chrome, it will reload automatic the page for refreshing every 10 sec ... now is refreshing every 10 sec with out reloading all the stats page

I also had to make a small change at RouterStats dsl settings to make it work again with the _2182 firmware

EDIT 2
it seems the bit swap (adsl) keeps well for my connection ... peak time now & spectrum always on, usually had more gaps the spectrum monitor... too early to tell but seems good sing at least for me

Is that with spectrum killed or left running? Also did you have significantly more errors prior to this firmware?

@ ixel

the spectrum now refresh every 15 sec instead of 45 before (so i have it on permanently)
I am not sure if this is the fine tuning asus was talking about
It looks like now safely can have it always on

The dsl stats page does not reloading for refreshing, it just counting the changes normal

I can see in the dsl settings AGC Gain added for ADSL & a second vector will appear once vector is enabled

An other user at asus forum mention the firmware is good for him with Sky (perhaps is visiting & here) ... but i guess not for everyone ... an other at asus forum mentioned more crc errors

I guess & suspecting now to look the AGC Gain for other users having still issues ... but my line has profile locked so does not let me for this kind of changes

Having spectrum on 24/7 for my adsl line is the first firmware that will not only keep the snr stable but it will go up by 1-2 db like broadcom modems does for my broadcom line

The menus seems faster to me & i have NAT acceleration disable

At least for me looks good

the screenshot is not my current settings so guys do not confuse

I am not saying there is something wrong this time, only testing for users with still high crc errors ... i would say to check this

Disable NAT acceleration (lan>switch control)
I was quiet because i updated my draytek unit which added in their firmware (2860/2760) hardware acceleration & their cpu is using way much more memory and menus of the unit has slowed down everything with that firmware, TBB monitor is awful as well, before this firmware all was ok
That may not be the case with asus but worth to try, is easy

Check AGC Gain (change) ... from feeling it may be something wrong there ... i am not too sure if AGC asus have it so right ... this is very sensitive feature & complicate if is adjusted wrong or not calculated right

Is strange some users have seen improvement and some worst (-2182)... suppose/seems asus has fine tuned most of the features in this beta (_2182) ... is something in the dsl settings now, can not be the stability adjustment, not the sra, maybe the TX power & also AGC Gain is a complicated feature

Yep gonna organise a return on Monday, a shame i was looking forward to ripping its software guts and playing lol :)

strange case
have you tried it at an other electric socket just incase? if you have electric extension then you don't need to move the modem there

Yep babis was one of the first things i tried was it in other rooms. PSU also makes a very quiet clicking sound (have to put ear right next to it to hear it though). Voltage at a voltmeter indicates it is varying by as much as 2V.

Hopefully where i bought it (not overclockers) will not mess me about with the return, i really want to see what i can do with the device.

Gone back to the ECI modem aswell, getting a lot of instability with firmware 2160 compared to 2158

I've been following the holy grail for a single box solution for a while now. Started off with an ECI modem and plusnet router and had a very stable connection. Swapped that for a Draytek 2760 but didn't have a lot of luck with that, and then a DSL-AC68U

Whilst the firmwares have got gradually better, even with the latest I was still on a highly interleaved connection, and had been since October. I was getting a higher attainable speed, but since the interleaving was stealing a chunk of that, my actual sync was much lower than with previous devices.

I'm now using the AC68U as a router only, and have plugged it into an unlocked HG612 that I got for £16 on the auction site. After 6 days Im back on Fastpath and have the same sync as I had when I got FTTC installed 18 months ago.

Really wanted to believe in this modem, but It seems it really is duff, even with the newest firmware.

Gone over to the beta firmware and stock settings, immediately my Max rate Down is up to 83004 from the settings that Paul advised me to input.

Seems ok, only 3 crc's in over three hours without disabling the spectrum. My max rate was down to around 62000 when using the settings asus advised me to set...

Do you know if your connection is interleaved or on fastpath? Just observing this thread and so far I get the impression that the latest unofficial beta has made an improvement for the most part - unless I'm mistaken.

My pings suggest it has been interleaved for over a month but I have only had the time to test it once in the last five hours I have had the beta installed though and I am still not sure that the ping is due to being the distance I am from the exchange. Also when I ran the BT test it said my cabinet was not in use, don't know what that means though. CRC's are now at 13 and my other stats are below:
