Aorus/Gigabyte X570 - Buildzoid Ripple tests with AORUS & ASUS

Any way to increase PPT beyone 88W on a 3700X?

Though Ryzen Master allows me to select values above 88W they don't do anything, and might be going blind, but I can't see anything anything in the BIOS. Everything else is maxed out and this is the only thing that seems to be limiting me.

If you have PBO or CPB enabled then you can't go over the 88w limit. The limits are 88w for 65w TDP and 142w for 105w TDP. These are FIT limits coded into the cpus by AMD to stop PBO and the other boost features from doing anything dangerous. You have two options to override...

First option is to go full manual oc - set manual vcore and multiplier in your bios overclocking tab. This is the traditional method everyone is familiar with, you end up with a linked core oc and lose all power saving and idling features.

Second option is to manually set speed and VID curve (this retains power saving features that you lose with a manual oc). To do that set your vcore to Normal/Auto, CPU multi to Auto, disable PBO and CPB everywhere you can find it in bios, then use the cpu speed and vid settings from the "Manual Overclocking" tab within your AMD overclocking section in bios (AMD Overclocking is usually hidden in the settings/advanced bios section, not the overclocking section). Note that the voltage you set here is the low load voltage (what you see as high voltage idle in windows right before the core parks), the VID request will scale down depending on what type of load you put the cpu under. 1425mv is the recommended safe max for voltage under light load and will give around 1.35v to 1.37v under really heavy load. Makes you wonder why stock behaviour allows up to 1.5v?

anyone else's app centre checking for updates indefinitely even though i have been notified there is updates. just does this forever.

Unintsall and re-install? Or disable notifications.

Or just uninstall - not being facetious I genuinely dislike suite software :).

Anybody that’s already got the Aorus pro installed or waiting to install care to tell me how high the Vrm heatsink directly above the cpu socket protrudes?.

Have a h100i v.2 in push/pull and am thinking they might clash.
(Case is a NZXt H630).

@GIGA-Man any news on fixing cold boot isues on overclocked ram?
Also is the chipset fan reads temp from amd x570 chipset or IO controler? As it looks like it works by checking IO temps not amd chipset.. am I wrong? As I always have 72-75 chipset temp with fan idling on low revs.. and IO controler temps like 50-60 :S

You should have all got your STEAM codes by now, I'm clearing them all every week if I can. You should not be left waiting more than two weeks for your codes.

Would be good if after submitting the claim for the steam codes we got an automatic confirmation email saying it had been received, then if in a few weeks we didn't receive the codes at least we'd have proof that we did it in time.

I think it's all done via old skool.method ... Seen what happened to MSI and Asus using 3rd party and auto confirm.. took over 3 months and OCUK didn't do any more promos with them for a good while lol

Yeah, that's cool, I'm down with old skool ;)

I guess it's just cos I haven't claimed a promotion before & after registering yesterday I was left feeling a bit like that would be the last I heard of it.

it was a very quiet one- in terms of promo by the looks of it - member pointed out a few days after it went live

I agree it should send an auto reply confirming registration, however because of GDPR we need to use an older system than I'd like to make sure the data is safe. I am working on an new promotion system which will enable me to do this but it's taking a while.

If any of you do get issues in the mean time, just shout me an I'll sort them ASAP. I plan on keeping no one waiting for more than 14 days maximum but when creating the T&C's will always push the date out a little in case of any issues.

How does the Dual Bios system work on these gigabyte boards? I think I messed some memory settings up, it got stuck in a boot loop so I powered it down and when I booted it back up it said that the Bios had been reset. On looking in more details my Bios version was back to the original one that it shipped with so it must have triggered the backup bios. Since I can't see any switch on the Aorus Pro x570 to swap between the main bios and backup am I right in assuming that it's copied what was on the backup bios to my main rather than it booting me into the backup bios directly?

So can anyone confirm having the same:
AIDA and HWINFO somehow have reading temps from 2 different sensors one for AMD chipset and another for IO controller, is it software error or? as that lower temp(IO controller) which is around 50-60 degrees and have pch fan curve on this is always sitting on almost the same temp, but the higher(amd chipset?) one is going from 60 to 80 degrees which I am worried about, as it looks like pch fan is not reacting to this at all...

So basically, can anyone confirm PCH fan is reading correct sensors and correct values? I thought maybe HWINFO have some kind of error, but AIDA also showing this higher temp AS PCH temp... which is not on PCH FAN CURVE, as it doesnt matter how high this temp goes.. fan stays on the same rpm.

By the way I am on x570 aorus master board.

hopefully this is just a software bug.. but the fact is that software is reading some sensor temp which is getting near 80C is interesting..

@GIGA-Man - any chance you can look into this for me? Think I originally submitted around 23rd July and chased up about a week ago. I was directed to promotions email address - sent email query but still heard nothing...

My guess is that you're still on the same BIOS, but it just reset to defaults because your previous settings weren't able to POST.

Resetting to default doesn't usually revert your BIOS version does it though? I'm back on F3 which was the first one it came with for the Pro. I'd flashed to f4i previously.

Edit: Ok, so today I managed to somehow get back into a BIOS that was flashed to f4i again so I don't think it did copy over my main BIOS or do any resetting or whatever. I think it just booted me into the backup bios the other day after it "fell over".

That begs the question of how you swap between the two then though.. I'm not really sure how I did it.

Yeah, sounds like it switched to the backup BIOS.

During boot up, if you press the F2 key, does it allow you to toggle between the main and backup BIOS?
