Aorus Owner's Lounge

Will do thanks, just remembered there was no Haribo in my delivery..............oh the pain!!!

The other 'extras' more than made up for a few jellies though (and I guess my missus would only moan about me eating them).

lol,,,, AORUS can't accept responsibility for the lack of Haribo,,,,

Had my X7 for two months now and still think its the best Windows laptop I've had. I use it every day alongside my work laptop, I don't have room for a full size PC and this is a very close 2nd best due to the screen (refresh + G-Sync) and SLI GPU's. Obviously can't compete with a 980Ti SLI rig but that's overkill for my needs at 1920x1080.

I've also added 2 x 1TB SSD's and every game I have runs on max settings, from BF Hardline to Star Wars Beta.

Will definitely look at this model again when my next upgrade itch kicks in (about 12 months), possibly sooner if the following happen:

1. 4K IPS screen.
2. Next gen GeForce GPU's in SLI.
3. M.2 SSD drives (preferably 4, don't worry about the 3.5" bay).
4. Mechanical keyboard..?

Form factor is great, looks fantastic and I can't see myself getting another full form factor gaming PC again really.

Having downgraded my desktop i am thinking of getting a laptop ( once i am working again :D ) The x7 pro sync is definitely #1 on the list at the moment. How long can you expect the battery to last whilst not gaming on this :)?

Hi harry5522,

We would exxpect between 2-3 hours performance for light tasks. Disabling 1 gpu and tweaking settings can extend this also.

Perhaps an owner would be better positioned to give their experience rather than us...

Aorus x3 plus V5 problem

So I purchased an Aorus x3 plus V5 and got it delivered today. Was very excited but that did not lasted long. The machine in idle mode (Desktop) made buzzing noises which I figured out are coming from the middle of the two fans, where the dedicated graphics card is located. With in next 30 min the screen began to flicker. Created an RMA and posted back to OC to have a look.
Now I am not really sure I should go for a replacement or a refund. I really like this laptop but got very disappointed that after paying a hefty £1800+ I couldn't enjoy the machine for even an hour, and the quality control have been overlooked by AORUS?
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

I would give them another chance. You never know it could well have been damaged in shipping.

I would get a replacement and if that one also is funked then yes refund for sure.

Hi w4r_m4chine,

Really sorry to learn of the issue experienced with your new machine.

We will speak to OcUK today and make sure the return is in progress, (from reading your post it looks like you have started the process).

HQ already identified your post to us this morning and owner of AORUS brand is truely sorry and embarressed to read of this problem and has requested your machine be sent back for deep analysis.

Once exchange has occurred, assuming this is the course of action you want to take, and you are in safe receipt of new unit, we will of course send you some "gifts" by way of compensating you for the inconvenience.

Once again, we apologise for the problem experienced and hope we have the opporuntiy to rectify for you.

Hi w4r_machine

I am sorry to hear of the issue with the Aorus unit you have purchased. Being perfectly honest with you that is very odd for an Aorus product as they are usually very reliable and never really fail (I have one)

Can you please provide me with your order number so I can make sure the returns process is quick and smooth?

Are you wanting a replacement?

Thanks

Bailey

I wouldn't write off a manufacturer for 1 fault, I can understand your frustration but trust me the laptops are fantastic.

I've handled literally 1000s of Lenovo, HP and Dell machines (both laptops & desktops) in my role and let me tell you that all these manufacturers have a failure rate.

Put it this way if your car broke down would you never buy that make again?

What I will say is that from reading this thread Atom80 & Bailey do definitely go that extra mile to ensure you are 'satisfied' and that is what convinced me to purchase an Aorus laptop.

I do believe that the service Bailey and Atom are providing is very impressive and spot on. After reading the posts I do actually trust Aorus and that's what compelled me to go for it.
Can you please share what machine have you got and since how long you have been using it for?

Hello

I am using the X3 Plus with the 3K screen! Its an awesome piece of kit and been using it for a good 4 or 5 months so far. Very impressed with it and it is pretty hard to impress me with all the tech I see on a daily basis.

You are having a refund on your unit?

Bailey

I got the Aorus X7 v2-CF2 a fortnight ago and despite the terrible Wifi in the hotel the laptop is faultless.

I'm really torn between the Aorus X3 v5 vs the GS40 soon to be out. The only thing that's stopping me from taking the punt on the X3 is the damn screen resolution!

Does anyone with the X3 have anything to say with how a 3200x1800 on a 13.9" screen actually translates into real life use on Windows 10? Obviously I'm intending to game, but I'll also be doing development on the machine, I can't be writing code if the text is microscopic.

Also when gaming I'll be setting it at 1080p but how does that really look? The GS40 is nearly £700 less and 1080p so I'm really only swaying to the X3 for build quality, battery life and better cooling, but if the screen will annoy me more than anything then I'll get immediate buyers remorse with the X3. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi w4r_m4chine,

Hi w4r_m4chine,

OK, thanks for the information, this is "better" news.

Yes the stock has been removed from stock while we perform analysis on your unit at HQ. AORUS takes any level of failure vvery seriously, and because yours was the first unit sold, HQ made quick decision to ensure that we understand what the problem was, and be confident it was a "one off". But while this investigation takes place we removed from sale.

Thanks for getting yours returned swiftly, its now on its way back to the mothership !

OCUK did identify "a slight buzzing" from the fan, but couldnt replicate the screen issue. We requesteed that they return straight to us exactly as they received it and not try and solve anything, as we need to do this ourselves.

Its one of those things, and we will resolve and have perfecct product back on the shelf very soon.

Safe travels and we look forward to your return,

Regards,
