Aorus Owner's Lounge

Hi w4r_m4chine,

OK, thanks for the information, this is "better" news.

Yes the stock has been removed from stock while we perform analysis on your unit at HQ. AORUS takes any level of failure vvery seriously, and because yours was the first unit sold, HQ made quick decision to ensure that we understand what the problem was, and be confident it was a "one off". But while this investigation takes place we removed from sale.

Thanks for getting yours returned swiftly, its now on its way back to the mothership !

OCUK did identify "a slight buzzing" from the fan, but couldnt replicate the screen issue. We requesteed that they return straight to us exactly as they received it and not try and solve anything, as we need to do this ourselves.

Its one of those things, and we will resolve and have perfecct product back on the shelf very soon.

Safe travels and we look forward to your return,

Regards,

Gigabyte UK NB Team
Hi,
Thankyou so much for such a quick response.
In order to replicate the screen issue, several webpages can be opened and then the flickering would occur when you try to switch between them.
I really like this small beast and cant wait to get hands on it. I hope that the incident is one time.
Regards

No problem, and thanks for the insight on the screen issue, we will let our R&D team in Taipei know so they can replicate when they recceive the machine.

Has anyone else got any feedback on their upgrade to Windows 10 on the Aorus X7? I would be very interested to hear if others are having issues with suspend / resume, particularly if someone has found a fix.

Thanks

Ive not done my yet as I saw the previous issues users were having so just stayed on 8, if it's ok to do I will upgrade when I go home today and I have a decent bb speed.

Good luck with that. Mine upgraded without any real problems, just a long time downloading the updated drivers. I am pleased that I made the jump and the power issue is a very minor niggle. It might be something simple, I just have not had time to look at it in detail yet.

Hope it goes well and please leave some feedback for others :)

What drivers were you stuck with, did you have to get them from Aorus or did Windows automatically find them?

I really don't want to spend all night faffing about trying to get things working.

Hi, with out tweaking any setting on my X7 G-sync. I get around 2 hour of light use and about 45 minutes when SLI gaming.

Given my last general purpose ASUS laptop was between 2-3 hours conducting the same type of activity. I don't feel that the life of the battery given the system spec is all that bad.

It would be nice for future editions to be able to switch to the IGP and same even more battery power when not doing intensive tasks.

All appears to be fine, just starting the NVidia updated driver but there is only bluetooth adapter driver missing so I'll sort that in the morning.

Got my brand new x3 v5 and it won't even power on.
It won't charge and even after its plugged in hours, nothing.
Holding down the right mouse button shows one flashing led.
Plugging the unit in fails to light up any led's.
Pressing the power button starts the boot time but then after 2 maybe 3 seconds it dies.

Waiting for OC support to come online but I'm not impressed as there's been zero QA on the unit.

Some more detail:
Without power cable connected - unit is completely dead and lifeless. Even holding the right trackpad button fails to reveal battery state.

Plug the power supply in and unit starts (keyboard lights up and Aorus logo is shown) however there is no a/c power led lit. Just hard drive and 'on' led's.
Less than 2 seconds later the unit shuts off. It then immediately tries to reboot and the whole process is repeated until the power lead is removed. When the power lead is attached back to the unit with the lid closed then nothing happens. No led's or anything. If you press the right track pad then it'll flash the first led.
Tested the power pack and it is outputting 19.5v and the USB charge port works fine.
I have left the unit 'charging' (well, plugged in) overnight and nothing changed.

It's frustrating as now the units are out of stock with no ETA. I'm also thinking that two out of the first batch are faulty is not a great failure rate esp for a laptop knocking on the door of 2k.

Tried registering with Aorus and nothing back from them (can't post to their forums as they fail to send out activation emails and tried from two separate accounts).

The X3 V5 is a laptop I am seriously considering but it's a little bit worrying that at least 2 out of the 5 units that OCUK had for sale are faulty in some way.

This is a premium brand so I seriously hope there isn't an issue with quality control here?

Hi w4r_m4chine,

Really sorry to learn of the issue experienced with your new machine.

We will speak to OcUK today and make sure the return is in progress, (from reading your post it looks like you have started the process).

HQ already identified your post to us this morning and owner of AORUS brand is truely sorry and embarressed to read of this problem and has requested your machine be sent back for deep analysis.

Once exchange has occurred, assuming this is the course of action you want to take, and you are in safe receipt of new unit, we will of course send you some "gifts" by way of compensating you for the inconvenience.

Once again, we apologise for the problem experienced and hope we have the opporuntiy to rectify for you.

Regards,

Gigabyte UK NB Team

Would i also be in the line for these "gifts" as i was to in the same position a few posts ago on this thread

:D

PS does anyone get crashes on there x7 PRO when not having the unit plugged in? The error i get is ACPI\ACPI0008 in the event viewer
happened around 5-6 times now all without the charger plugged in but never when plugged in :(
sucks cause it would be nice to use the laptop without the charger sometimes without the risk of a crash

btw this is running windows 10

I've got an RMA number from OC and TBH now that I've kinda got over the initial frustration (it's only a laptop after all) I am impressed with the unit as a whole (being lifeless aside) and it is the unit I want. I hadn't noticed the other post saying it's been taken offline pending investigation. I have requested a replacement unit and hope this to be a blip.
My gut feel after decades of laptop ownership? I think it's a faulty battery and the charge controller on the laptop is refusing to charge it knowing it's bad. It's annoying that the battery is fixed in place as I'd love to see if it ran with no battery on A/C.

Anyway it's all boxed up and just awaiting Monday AM to get it to a courier.

Looks like too many units are faulty. I am afraid I wont be spending my hard earned cash for a brand which I need frequent replacements/repairs. Aorus has made a nice little beast x3 v5 but with poor quality control. My first unit x3 v4 from ************ was faulty, second from OC was faulty aswell. I would expect a laptop with that premium price to work flaulessly for atleast couple of years.

Hi all,

We take quality and customer satisfaction very seriously.

We can only apologise for the situation with these units, we wanted them to be removed from sale as soon as we had visitbility of the first RMA unit, when the stock was therefore shown as zero, we beleieved this to be the case and they were being shipped back to us for investigation.

However, once we spoke to OCUK we realised that the remaining stock had in fact sold and been shipped to end users. This was a breakdown in communication between us and OCUK.

Next shipment of X3 V5 that we "owe" to OCUK is undergoing additional testing before coming over. We will update when we know more.

ok so its just happened again within 10 - 20 mins of having the laptop without the charger turned on but it was plugged in "if that makes a difference"

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ACPI\ACPI0008\5&15d725f4&0.

also have this msg in event viewer with many different processor numbers

The speed of processor 6 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.

whats going on?

PS - Atom did u ignore me above or miss my post lol

I really don't want to spend all night faffing about trying to get things working.

I let WIndows update the drivers initially then used the Aorus driver update after Windows 10 had finished installing. There were no problems, just a lot to download and multiple reboots, hence the long time.

Just for clarification, the laptop was working fine after the Windows update, but Aorus driver update application showed that a lot of drivers now needed updating, despite all of them being up to dste with Win 8.1 installed. It makes sense really as the Taiwanese website suggests that there are new drivers specifically tested with Windows 10
