I've got an RMA number from OC and TBH now that I've kinda got over the initial frustration (it's only a laptop after all) I am impressed with the unit as a whole (being lifeless aside) and it is the unit I want. I hadn't noticed the other post saying it's been taken offline pending investigation. I have requested a replacement unit and hope this to be a blip.
My gut feel after decades of laptop ownership? I think it's a faulty battery and the charge controller on the laptop is refusing to charge it knowing it's bad. It's annoying that the battery is fixed in place as I'd love to see if it ran with no battery on A/C.

Anyway it's all boxed up and just awaiting Monday AM to get it to a courier.

Rapidly descending into a farce... Overclockers booked with DPD yesterday to collect the dead laptop today (the usual 09:00 to 17:00 affair). 17:00 comes and goes, and no collection... Find out that DPD decided not to action the collection and I've wasted a day. Rapidly getting to the point where I don't think I want to keep pushing this as I feel like I'm wasting my time.

So there is an RMA opened and ill have to wait for at least 2 weeks... This is really annoying so I was wondering if it was possible asking to the guys at OC UK to send me the x5 instead... Which is also £10 less but I am not sure... The x5 is not running a skylake so ..... No ddr4 47w instead of 45w more consumption but starting with base frequency of 2.7mhz if I'm not mistaken... Is it really worth it? I mean waiting for 2 weeks? Or just ask assuming it's possible to had the x5? What do you guys think? Please could you share your thoughts? Also I am really disappointed since I see that these laptops have lot of issues... I've been looking around these days and seems that almost everybody came across something especially the screen...

We are sorry about the situation you have encountered. But as you will see from earlier post, we actually withdrew the units from sale after the first problem was reported. Unfortuately 4 units did ship from OCUK that shouldnt have, but this is something we cannot change.

We are in the process of contacting the other users who purhcased to let them know of the problem and assure them if they encounter anything, we will replace for them.

We once again apologise for the inconvenience caused and are working hard to get the product back into OCUK as quickly as possible,

thanks Sir, i am in contact with Baley here that has been really helpful and nice to me :)

obviously i am disappointed anyway ahahah I am thinking to go for the 15.6 but my concern will be that Aorus could release a new 15.6 soon with new skylake and I don't really wanna buy something that is already "old"....

so you saying that the 13.9 have had many issues?

i was told that if I want that as replacement I will have to wait for 15 days minimum, also at this point... I have fear that I will have the same issue over and over again....

We take quality VERY seriously at AORUS, hence why when we became aware of the issue with 1 unit sold of the new X3 model, we tried to remove from sale and investigaate the problem by having the faulty unit returned to our R&D team in Taiwan - Unfortunately the stock was ordered and shippped from OcUK before they had a chance to remove from sale.

We saw the stock had "vanished" and assumed it had been withdrawn, it was only when we arranged collection of the 5 units, and were informed there was only 1, we realised what had happened.

The units passed QC before leaving the factory, this is why we wanted to investigate before putting them back on the shelves.

At this moment all we can say is that we won't put these back live with OcUK or any other re-seller unitl we are 100% sure the quality is what we expect.

So to assure you, we are not saying we the 13.9" model has had manny issues, just that "something" has certainnly gone wrong between these leaving factory and being shipped to customers in the UK - and we will identify what, and put it right. Therefore you can have confidence that the replacement new stock will be shipped to OcUK as quickly as possible, but not before we are 100% confident that its perfect. So, no you will not experience a re-occurrancce of the issue.

Regarding your other point about X5 - yes there will be a Skylake model but currently we are not expecting this until January.

I really wouldn't want to wait for a month... I was told 8 days from Monday which basically doesn't mean anything to me, I would like to have a date for when I'll receive it back or at least when the stock at oc uk will be back please. Thanks

We are waiting for confirmation from HQ - we did say to Baily yesterday that we thought 2 weeks would be achievable.

Once confirmed we will post.

Thanks again for your help. Hope you do understand how disappointed I am now knowing that I bought something that was supposed to be removed from the store to avoid issues... It wasn't and then now I have to wait 2 weeks after spending all that money for a product that was supposed to be perfectly fine especially cause I'm expecting really high quality for such a laptop for such a brand like Aorus... Is there anything you could do to accelerate process? If there's something you could do I'll appreciate that...

PS. Two weeks could be achievable means I'll never get it in two weeks so we are talking about even longer waiting time... Somebody should have warned me after I placed the order of this was already meant to be removed as you said...
 
To be fair, I don't think it's reasonable to blame not withdrawing quickly enough (and I'm and upset as all the other owners). Only a handful of units stocked and given the demand I expect they were all sent before the first one was identified to have a problem.
 
Unless they were gone on the same day.... I don't think this is the case... But I can't judge since I don't know the exact day it arrived in stock. Said that we or I will wait for ages before having the laptop and this is really annoying especially cause I'm waiting for an exact day since yesterday and nobody has been able to provide me with it.
 
Anyway yes there's no one to blame, blaming doesn't fix the issue and it's not constructive :) I'd just like to know the exact day and if they could do something to "make us, unlucky guys" happy... Dunno, a boundle e tshirt anything :( pffff

Unbelievable - After yet ANOTHER day of waiting for a collection (after receiving texts and emails indicating it'll be collected) I decide to ring up and what am I told? "Ah, we don't actually offer return collection from where you are and you'll have to return it to us at your own cost".
I've been trying to return this laptop since Saturday and it's just completely wasting my time. I did manage to get an offer of return postage cover as the unit didn't exactly fail under warranty.

As an ownership experience this is probably the worst I've had... Or not had as I don't count this as owning a laptop.

i feel you man.... out of curiosity is this happening with an x3/x5? I had to bring the laptop to the pickup location for dpd and they collected it today, i brought the laptop there yesterday...
 
oh.... what was the issue for you? as you probably seen my videos, in my case was the display, what was wrong for you? (i received it on sat too lol)

Hah - you got further than me!
Mine wouldn't turn on at all on battery and when power applied it would simply stay flashing the keyboard. I never ever got past the Aorus logo you get on the bios - half second after that it's power cycle again and repeat. No option to select safe mode or anything.

what a lucky one I am! ha! sorry man...... I have received the RMA label (dpd one) the day after i opened the case, i dropped it yesterday at the dpd pickup location :) now we will wait for eeeeeeever to get one... i was thinking to get the 15 but no point to get something that will be old in one month :)
