I appreciate your support and customer service. Please let us know what was wrong with these machines, and what Aorus has done in to prevent it in future. Unfortunatley I was the first customer to receive one of these faulty laptops and still waiting for Aorus to come up with latest stock for x3 v5. Mine had buzzing sounds and display flickering issues.

Yup, I hope that too. The reason I went for aorus is its a nice little portable beast with tons of power. Btw I came to know that all nvidia gtx 970 and 980 gpu have "coil whine" which causing annoying buzzing sound. Nvidia says its present in 50% of machines and can be controlled by underclocking.
I think the unit I received does had a coil whine plus a flickering screen issue.

Same reason why I went for the little 13, originally I needed a machine like that to run my labs, I have 6 vm and gns3 with multiple network scenarios all linked together and I needed power, then I said myself that getting one that was going to allow me playing as well was a good thing 2 birds with a rock :)

Now you mentioning the nvidia issue it make me honk that we will never have a perfectly working machine....

Do you have a video of your issue?

Windows 10 allows you to create install discs based on the current OS.
That'll create an ISO file. Then use something like "ISO to USB" and this will make a bootable usb drive that will install everything from there.
With windows 10 it works great as no product keys as it's activated based on computer fingerprint.

Good Morning All,

We have received news from the HQ this morning, the X3 V5 product is now ready to come over from factory. It will leave by air on Monday, and should therefore be booked in and back in stock with OcUK by Friday.

There has been a BIOS update conducted that has solved the issues experienced.

Once again we apologise for the inconvenience cause by this problem.

My current Alienware 15 with 980m has the coil whine issue and I am going to report it.
For the aorus x3 v5 i didnot record he screen issue, it happened when i scrolled and switch through browser pages. OC were able to identifiy the buzzing sound but the flickering, I dont know.

Still have 2 questions guys

1. How did you factory reset the device? You meant just re-install Windows deleting he partition, making one new and then install win10? Or there's a reset button (I doubt lol)
2. What you guys at the factory do? Install Windows from scratch or you got like a standard image for all of them and you put that image on every laptop?

Thanks

No - according to Aorus the factory had to make changes to the bios to correct the boot loop. Nothing to do with Windows.

I know that. I was asking this cause they said they had to factory reset the machine in order to fix the screen.... This is worrying me since it seemed to be clearly an hw issue

I would guess that the bios affected the power controller. The screen issue looked like extreme artifact conmon with over clocking too high or having the voltages out of alignment. It only looked like you had screen issues when the machine was under load (including moving stuff)

Under load while moving the mouse on the desktop? Also if you look at the video, it was happening only on the left side of the screen and not on the right...

I know it's really odd but I've seen worse when building gaming rigs.
I've got a gaming laptop from clevo and moving the mouse changes the pitch of the power brick whine. Maybe load is wrong word - more 'doing stuff'
Check out the cpu usage when you move the mouse - you get a noticeable spike even from that.

uhmmm could be, could be many things... I've always seen this type of issue when the screen is damaged, it department in my company deal a lot with that thing, also YouTube is full of video like that, showing the screen behaving in the same way and replacing it fix the issue. Anyway Baeley and Atom said that factory resetting the machine fixed the issue so that's why I asked what they meant by factory reset :)

Let's see... Today they should ship the x3 to UK hopefully they will be perfectly functional.

ehm...... sorry guys.... we were told that the replacement units were going to be shipped on Monday the 16th to OC UK, then arriving on Friday (even if I wonder how can take so long) anyway, I was hoping to have mine on Saturday with next business day or latest on next Monday the 23rd of Nov, but I just had a look to the website and boom! my hopes are gone.... ETA 04/12/2015?!?!?!!?!?!? can you just explain what happened?

thanks!

I'm hoping that's for the normal scheduled shipments that would have been arranged in advance.... And that our units are outside the normal shipping schedules
