** Apple Media Event - March 7th **

Apple never chase core specs. They've been that way for years.

Whilst quad core is in the competitors devices doesn't mean Apple will.

Yet, despite this, their hardware is always balanced and elegant and simply a pleasure to use.

Typing this on a Macbook pro 13 2011 ;)

It could be quad core. Nay, it could be six/eight core, I'm sure Apple have the resources. It could have a larger screen. It could have a 3d display. It could have removable storage. It could have a 50MP camera. It could have NFC. It could dual boot Android. It could make toast. Clearly the list of potential 'game changing' features that Faustus might have wanted is endless.

Obviously this is not the pinnacle of human technology. Obviously Apple have more up their sleeve that will be in the next iteration. That doesn't mean that this is therefore a disappointment. Unbelievable...

Well I do thank you for the elevation to reporter/tech analyst/financial analyst etc. for these are the people who have been reporting the less than ecstatic response to New iPad. I'm quite happy with my iPad 2 and I wouldn't be upgrading whatever the spec. I was however simply commenting that I agree with the non partisan reports. I think one can assume from your response and lack of objectivity that you are partisan. It would also help if you would actually trawl back a few posts to see what I have actually had to say on the subject rather than what you assume I've said before frantically bashing away on your keyboard - unbelievable.

Upgrading because I can.

But anyone that uses an iPad one will know that is suffers in the web browser having to reload every tab every time due to the lack of ram. But thats my only minor complaint about it.

Where have I shown a lack of objectivity? I may have been sarcastic, but I didn't say anything that was inaccurate.

I have read all of your posts. All you seem to have done is accuse people who are excited about the new iPad of raving hysterically about it (who has done this??), using the specs in a ******* contest (again, who did this?), insisting that there is no 'game changer', belittled those who compare specifications between models, said that this model could have been so much better (any consumer product that has ever been produced could always have been better in some way).

I still don't understand why you're being so defensive. Ok you're happy with your iPad 2- fine. Not once has anyone tried to convince you otherwise. You don't seem to accept that other people find the updates in the new iPad more significant than you, and that it is a fact that the new iPad is better than the iPad 2. Whether you would derive any benefit or pleasure from the new features is not in question.

don't you think we can lock this thread now, its descended in to petty arguments and has nothing to do with the media event, which is now over and we have an official new iPad page now anyway

Well it's hardly had rave reviews from tech or financial analysts has it? The only people raving about it are the usual suspects e.g. those who would buy Apple even if it was the fruit variety  The more discerning buyer can look at it dispassionately and see it for what it is, i.e. a small evolutionary step forward. As I said before, for me it's no game changer so I will stick with my iPad2 for quite some time to come thank you very much.
iPad 2 sold 2 million in 60 days.

Apple has sold over 3 million new iPads in.... the weekend of release.

I wonder how long it took Apple to produce 3 million iPad 2's? They certainly made sure they had a lot of stock for this launch. Everyone that I know who wanted one got one fairly easily this time around. There were a lot of disappointed people last year.

Well nobody was sure this year whether it was lower demand or higher stock, seems it was the latter, three days on still marvelling at sharpness of text etc but the extra weight is very noticeable I feel.
