Very true! I suspect they restricted the power of the original watch to maximise the battery life, although mine can be worn for two fulls days before I need to charge it at ~25%.

But the problem is they take so long to load I usually give up and never bother. Only Soundhound is fast enough for me to not get my phone out. If they make them fast enough to use, then I'll finally accept you can run third party apps on the Watch. :)

Watch OS 3 fixes that for the most part, you can put your favourite apps in a dock and it keeps them in memory and they load very quickly.

I'm sure the next watch will make it so all apps load a lot faster though.

Any chance they could reduce the cost of Apple gear? I would like the iMAC for music production but the price to get on board with Apple is ridiculous.

I doubt they'll reduce prices. Unfortunately if you want an iMac you're going to have to stump up if wanting new. It's worth looking at refurbished items as they come with decent warranty and are pretty much as new anyway.

The pure rage will be incredible if they don't announce a new Macbook Pro at this one.

I'm definitely interested in a new rMBP, not so much interested in a new phone my 6 is still going strong.

Don't they normally announce it during the October event?

I'm also interested in the new rMBP, the rumours haven't got me very excited for the new iPhone. My 6 is doing just fine. :)

I will 100% want the new iphone if I watch the keynote so I need to stop myself from preordering straight away afterwards. Give it a few weeks and I probably won't care. Unless of course they come up with something amazing that hasn't been leaked which is not very likely. If apple bundled some really nice wireless headphones that would tempt me to upgrade from my 6 but if its just lightning headphones I couldn't care less.

I kind of assume they will have some surprises up their sleeves because this will be the worst iphone update ever if not. I don't really care if they drop the headphone socket but if they are doing that they should lead the way with wireless headphones.

I have no idea why they would make lightning headphones anyway. No apple computers use a lightning port and every set of headphones is 3.5mm so if you are dropping the socket just give us an adaptor. Who would buy a set of lightning headphones and then have to buy a lightning to 3.5mm adaptor. You would just us a 3.5mm to lightning adaptor for the iphone and keep using the old style connector on everything else.

Well the word on the street is there'll be an adapter in the box along with lightning headphones, they'll almost certainly be selling wireless "airpods" too.

I've seen this £25 adapter thing a few times (I see the smiley, you may well be joking I get that!).. I'd be very surprised if replcement adapters were that much, a quick search for "adapter" on their site shows you..

micro USB to 30 pin - £7
magsafe to magsafe 2 - £9
USB to USB-c - £15
Lightning to micro USB - £15

etc etc...

Plus (not here) I've seen a lot of people basically suggesting Apple are evil and the sky is falling in and that adapters will be £25, even £50.. completely forgetting that Apple are not the only people capable of making these things.

There will be absolutely tons of 3rd party options.. Hell Griffin have already announced a bluetooth 3.5mm adapter for $19.99 http://www.macrumors.com/2016/08/30/griffin-itrip-clip-bluetooth-audio-adapter/

It was a tongue in cheek comment, yeah. I don't get why people are so butt-hurt about the dropping of 3.5mm - it makes perfect sense to keep the phone thin.

Don't some Android handsets already use USB-C for earphones or am I making that up?

Yep, Moto Z doesn't have a 3.5mm not that anyone cares, there's a few Chinese phones using USB-C too, LePhone or something like that. Intel have been telling anyone who'll listen that USB-C is the future of audio in their opinion.

It's inevitable, fine 3.5mm has had a decent run but it's far from perfect. I've got some £250 Shures with a broken cable for example.. I've damaged things by dragging them off desks attached to headphones.. And recently Bluetooth has gotten more than good enough.

Thought as much, it's typical of any phone launch. Human's like a whinge.

More than happy with my 6S Plus anyway, pretty sure I'll be skipping this upgrade.

I predict that Apple will bundle the handset with wired lightning earpods and give you the option to purchase wireless Bluetooth headphones or an adapter.

I don't know that apple will even bother with making wireless headphones until they can do it super cheap and bundle them with the phones. They own Beats so they will want to push those and not compete directly with them. I know they have patented "AirPods" or something like that but they patent stuff all the time that they never use or don't use for years.

I think you misunderstood. Allow me to clarify...

They'll bundle some "earpods" which will be beats branded, but you will be able to purchase additional beats wireless headphones or an adaptor for existing 3.5mm headphones.

A bit like they offered the standard headphones and offered the in-ear ones as an additional purchase.

Refurb or 2nd hand is the way to go. Keep an eye on the members market here as there have been some bargain iMac's in my opinion.
