The only reason for the growth was because of 2 single products the past 6 months. The iPad and iphone4. While the iPhone 4 was too little too late (as in it didn't change everything, again) the iPad was quite unique at launch because nothing that compared existed at the time and given the popularity of the iPhone many people jumped on it who were fans and because it goes hand in hand with iPhones too.
Saying that, these 2 products won't help then over the next 12-18 months especially considering this fall onwards we see the release of many iPad competitors, some running Windows, others running Android and all better specced and featured than the iPad by all accounts should cost less too.
You only have to look at the smartphone uptake for Android vs iPhone in the States for 2009/2010 and the sales figures to see that Apple is just having a brief moment.
I don't see them saying the same this time next year while companies like HTC/Samsung etc will be continuing to post profits and masses of new phones and tablets.
And all without the pretentious marketing to boot.
