Apple vs Samsung, court orders Samsung to show Apple 5 new phones

I would love for Samsung to stick two fingers up at them and stop selling any parts to Apple for any of they products they want to make and withdraw the 4billion dollar investment they just made for future plants. Drop the S3 price everywhere to take a massive foothold in europe and the rest of the world and leave Apple stuck in the USA where it bloomin belongs. This was clearly America vs Korea nothing more leave Apple up the creek without a paddle but meh we can only dream.

Hopefully a few more isheep will see the light with Apples recent sue everyone because we can attitude.

:D well I suppose a bankrupted Samsung wouldn't be able to steal from Apple any more.

Damages awarded are minuscule compared to the damage to the Samsung brand and the money they'll lose when most of their products are removed from the shelves. Nothing stopping Apple going after the SG3 as well now.

sgs 3 was never part of the court hearings, it was only a selected few old phones. They can't go after anything modern Samsung, Samsung will lose barely nothing from this that they could nt make back in a week

Summary of the bad day:

Apple & Samsung statements:

Apple:

We are grateful to the jury for their service and for investing the time to listen to our story and we were thrilled to be able to finally tell it. The mountain of evidence presented during the trail showed that Samsung's copying went far deeper than even we knew. The lawsuits between Apple and Samsung were about much more than patents or money. They were about values. At Apple, we value originality and innovation and pour our lives into making the best products on earth. We make these products to delight our customers, not for our competitors to flagrantly copy. We applaud the court for finding Samsung's behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn't right.

Samsung:

Today's verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices. It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies. Consumers have the right to choices, and they know what they are buying when they purchase Samsung products. This is not the final word in this case or in battles being waged in courts and tribunals around the world, some of which have already rejected many of Apple's claims. Samsung will continue to innovate and offer choices for the consumer.

Apple is now seeking an injunction against Samsung's infringing products which would prevent their import/sales in the US and that date has been set to September 20th.

Hmmm, a jury verdict when the court is a hands throw from Apple HQ and the Jury loaded with silicon valley Gentiles who worship the Lord God Jobs......

Was it ever going to go another way. Each are as bad each other, Apple steal from Sony et al, Samsung steal from Apple.....evolution at work. ;)

Samsung told to pay Apple $1bn

So the verdict is out.

I have to say I'm pleased, not because I like (some) Apple products, but because theft of IP is wrong and it is not always easy to fight patent disputes in court. The company I work for had to put up with the theft our our designs and take the sals hit.
It hurts when companies profit from your work without permission.

Samsung can certainly innovate and produce great products. Stealing the UI of Apple's iPhone was poor practice and (now) illegal. Hopefully it will force Samsung to reinvent their products and bring out something special instead of the 'same old stuff' that Apple flooded the market with.

Edit - The screens shot was just showing how similar the phones look.

The actual patents in dispute are;

Mac Rumours said:
On the first claim, regarding the '381 "bounce back" patent, the jury finds Samsung guilty on all counts. Samsung infringed on Apple's patent on a wide variety of products.

On Apple's "pinch and zoom" '915 patent, the jury found that Samsung infringed on all but three products.

For the "double-tap to zoom" '163 patent, the jury found that Samsung infringed on a wide number of products, but not all.

The jury found that Samsung took actions that it knew or should have known were infringing across the '381, '915, and '163 patents on most, though not on all, counts.

For the '677 patent, covering Apple's trade dress registration of the look of the front of the iPhone, the jury found that Samsung did infringe on most devices, but again, not all.

For the D'087 patent, covering Apple's trade dress registration of the look of the back of the iPhone, the jury found that Samsung did infringe on some devices, but not all.

For the '305 patent, covering the trade dress registration of the iPhone's home screen, the jury found that Samsung infringed across most devices.

For the D'889 patent, covering the trade dress registration of the iPad's appearance, the jury found that Samsung's tablets do not infringe -- one of the first victories for Samsung.

This is a bad day for technology. Surrender to Apple or die.

For a capitalist company in a capitalist country they don't half behave communist.

I like Apple products but today my like for them died a little.

If they take on Google I hope they fail big time

Stealing IP is wrong, but this whole ancient patent system needs changing.

Almost every other week a new patent infringement lawsuit is brought up.

Its ridiculous.

Wait, so all this was about having program icons on a screen? Hardly novel or innovative.

You joke Jokester. :p It was just a image for illustration of how similar they look. Although if I saw my companies products look that similar I'd be a bit annoyed.
