Aqua Computer Aquaero Owners thread

That's good to know as I just read that they only start to spin at 8.7ish volts and for the test he had to get them running then lower the volts to 5. But they were still spinning at about 930rpm minimum. My current fans idle at 440rpm. I want it as quiet as possible when idle.

I just had a play around in Aquasuite and can confirm at least for my rear fan which is connected on it's own to channel 4 on my Aquaero 6 that in DC mode it spins up at 5.1v which equates to 826RPM and is quiet to my ears at least.

I have used it but I can't remember if I tried it in this situation as the fans start OK at 5.1v so for me it wasn't necessary and tbh I hate the sound of a 2000RPM at full pelt even if only for a second or two.

The problem here is that to run a 2000RPM fan at 500RPM is going to require it to run with a lot less than 5v which I'm not sure is possible although I'd love to know if someone has managed it.

Thanks for that mate :) Only problem I have now is weather the fans will be too loud for me at 5v. Got any other suggestions for fans?

Thank you. Can you then lower the volts even more once there spinning?

So if I want these fans I need to get the 6 to be able to run them at 500rpm then.

What's the best version? The 6xt blue or the 6 pro?

The 6XT retails for a fair bit more than the 6 Pro but the XT is usually discounted more heavily so the difference ends up at only around £10-15. The XT includes a remote and touch buttons so it depends if that's worth the extra to you or not.

The pro is 150 but down to 125 and the XT blue is 140 but not reduced.

Is the 6 worth it then guys. This will cost me about 300 for the fans and controller!

The 6 is good. More power on the channels so you can safely directly attach pumps with no heat or overload worries. PWM on all channels too.
The heatsink makes it look a lot nicer, cools it and gives it a bit of protection.

The remote I've never used more than once but in theory you can set up the unit (type in names etc) but you'd do that more easily using Aquasuite and a keyboard. It could be of interest for a media system I suppose. It can emulate a mouse and keyboard.

Touch buttons are dependant upon whether you like them. The same functionality can be had by mechanical buttons apart from the shortcuts along the bottom of the screen...that you never use. To be blunt, apart from scrolling through to see what raised an alarm if problems happen, you'll likely never use the buttons once you've set it up with Aquasuite. Largely it comes down to looks to be honest. If you're thinking of stripping the screen off, get whichever is cheapest as you'd take off bezel, touchscreen, screen and IR receiver (for remote) when you do.

Worth mentioning that the XT will come with a license for Aquasuite 2017-2019 but a Pro will only get 2017-2018. Not a big consideration but worth a note.

Yeah the screen will be off so won't be using half the stuff.

So when the license expires I can't use the software anymore? How much is a new license?

You can carry on using the version you have and any maintenance updates they release for it but you won't be able to use the following years version.

The cost is 9.90 Euros a year or 14.90 Euros for 2 years.

Also make sure if you get the XT that when you first install the software you have the screen fitted as if you don't it will decide you have a 6LT which will only get you a licence for this year and next.

So I'll still get full functionality?

Thanks for the tip :)

You get to use the last version you are entitled to for ever...You just don't get any new features (major versions) after that. You can purchase a license if new features come out that you want or if you buy any other module (like a flow sensor, PowerAdjust or RGB controller) you get a year or two's license included - as long as any piece is licensed you can install the new version.

That's fair enough. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply- is there a guide for doing this anywhere

Not that I can dig out at the moment (only on my mobile) but what you'd need is 5 of these (two definitely required per pump, one spare - if you want to trim the other wires too, add another 4)

And a crimp tool to put them on the end of the wires. These crimpers are supposed to be really good and if you were going to be crimping pins for an entire cable set it's definitely worth getting good ones - they're probably fairly overkill for just a few fan pins though. Ditto for the pins as they appear to be priced singly.

Strip 3mm of insulation and crimp the pin on the end. Add sleeving beforehand if you want and heatshrink it on. Sleeving and two lots of heatshrink goes on, then crimp pins on, the shrink the heatshrink in place. MDPC-X and Teleios sleeving are good. Paracord is the cheaper alternative and gives a more cloth-like finish that I prefer...but it can snag so it's probably less durable.

How much room thickness wise do I need to mount one behind the mb?

I just measured mine and to allow enough room for the cabling especially the 4 pin Molex you'll need at least 3.5CM.

Mine is fitted without the screen but using the supplied standoffs behind the drive cages in my Corsair 780T so there's plenty of room. You could probably use some shorter standoffs to save .5CM or so.

I just had a look at the pictures from your build and it's to tell as there's no images of the motherboard side but I think you're best bet would be to either fit to to the back of the acrylic panel or on the side of the front rad.
