Aqua Computer Aquaero Owners thread

I don't think the AC components use channels? The Aquabus is serial like USB so you can daisy chain them. If the AC D5 has onboard memory like the Farbwerk the yes, you need to use USB first but I wasn't sure that it did (not used one of their pumps before). The USB is used to set the onboard memory to use an external controller (i.e. Aquaero) via the Aquabus but this should only need to be done once/initially. If it's like the Farbwerk, when connected via USB it appears as its own device in the Aquasuite. Once it's under Aquabus control the it appears within the Aquaero sub-menus.

I think the new aquasuite is bugged as I can't see my AQ D5 pump anymore in the software, even though it's working as normal from the preferences of the previous aquasuite.

EDIT:

Had to plug in the usb cable to my pump to update it's firmware.

Sorted working fine again.

Can an AQ6 XT run leds as needing some lighting in this build but looking for simplest method if so can anyone recommend something preferably magnetic
Thx

It can, sort of. Short version, the built in LED controller is limited/garbage. You're much better off buying the Farbwerk component from Aqua Computing and either slaving it to the AQ6 (that's my preference) or running it on it's own USB header. It has 4 channels with the more "standard" 5050 connectors. Then you have a load of LED strips to choose from.

have ordered her a farbwerk and leds so just hope that the aquabus works this time as it wouldn't pick up the D5 pump and have to have it USB to motherboard to work

I use the Farbwerk v2 (should be the only version they're selling now) via Aquabus with my AQ6 XT.

The Farbwerk has it's own controller onboard so assuming you want to slave it to your AQ6 via Aquabus you will need to:
  1. Connect it via USB first (AQ6 does not have to be connected at same time).
  2. Open up Aquasuite.
  3. In the "Controller" menu under the new Farbwerk, set each channel ("RGB output 1-4") to "External controller source..."
  4. Now you can disconnect the Farbwerk from USB and connect via Aquabus.
  5. You can add the channels as LED Controllers under the AQ6 "Controller" menu now.

I kinda thought that was what u meant- I’ll wait till it arrives an then try but it didn’t recognise my D5 pump but I might have left the AE plugged in to the mobo

Make sure you're not covering the IR eye on the front of the Aquaero (on one side edge IIRC). Check the batteries are fresh andathe right way round in the remote (know it sounds patronising but the simple things are often easy to miss). You can probably test the remote by pointing it at your mobile's camera while in camera mode (or an actual digital camera!). You should be able to see the lights on it. If you can', confirm that it displays IR by doing the same with a remote you know works.

anyone recommend some led strips for the farbwerk- magnetic if possible as ones my sister in law had have blown and cant remember what they are.
Also is it possible to connect a Phanteks glacier cpu or gpu to the farbwerk as well anyone know?

Cheers for the reply cenedd. The ir from the remote is showing in phone camara. Is there any config that needs to be done in order for it to work. Only other thing i can assume is the unit itself is not picking it up. Which is a pain in the ass as its running my whole wc setup.

No, you should be able to set the Aquaero up completely independent of a PC...it's a pain in the backside, but you can. The remote helps with that as you can type in the names rather than going through every single letter of the alphabet for each letter of the word. Beyond that, it's entirely possible that you'll never use it again - unless perhaps it's a media PC. If the IR emitter on the remote is working but the Aquaero isn't, it could be the Aquaero is faulty but it's worth checking it isn't a mode button on the remote. There's a button at the top edge with two boxes. That puts the remote in PC keyboard mode so you can type on the PC (Aquaero acts as a USB keyboard). If it's in that mode, the Aquaero won't respond to all/most keys. Press the button that's a symbol of a house and you get out of it. After that the button with the lines on the far top right should give you the event log.

Any 5050 LED strip should work with the Farbwerk. The RGB channels can be remapped as well in case you get one that's not to spec (i.e. Some of the earlier Aqua Computing strips apparently). I grabbed 5m of Aqua Computing RBG strips and added my own magnets since they were both cheaper and far stronger. Phanteks will work with the Farbwerk but you'll need a converter or rewire the ends since they use a different LED connector by default.

I use the Farbwek to drive the LEDs my EK RGB Reservoir as well, no issues at all.

Thanks Bugbait- wonder what converter would be needed to do this

These would be the easiest option: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phanteks-rgb-led-adapter-cable-ca-057-pt.html

Then you'll some male-male converters since all the Farbwerk channels are female on board but they're common and dirt cheap from various online places.

EDIT: For some reason I thought Farbwerk worked with 5v or 12v but not certain so to be safe get 12v LED strips. Definitely works for 12v.

EDIT2: Also note the maximum 2.5A per channel at 12v with a total of 8A or 96W. My strips came with a specification of 14.4W/m or 1.2A/m at 12V for instance.

Been there, done that
I've got one led strip working fine but would like to use the leds in the cpu & GPU blocks as it wouls mean not adding further led strips as case getting difficult!
