ArcheAge, Ultima Online's rebirth?

The PVP system reminds me of Legend of Mir which i loved! Cant beat full on battles so you dont lose your bag items.

Subbing to this thread.

Desperate to avoid themepark MMOs so this is my next big hope. Currently playing Wulin which is fantastic but unfortunately the Irish publishers havent got a clue so were getting mutiple server crashes and rampant cheating in the form of bots. Its officially in beta but it isnt really so lets see how that goes.

Currently I would dump it for a game like Archeage. Seems to tick all my PvP / Class Mixing / Sandbox needs. Come on you **** invite.

Been playing the Korean version of this game. To start with I didn't really like the feel of the animation, it felt more like a Western game but I persevered with it and it grew on me. I love the ability to mix and match 3 classes(skill trees.) At the moment running around with Sorc/Nercro and another tree which is pretty cool. Got two toons to 19, looking forward to getting 30 so I can start PKing. A few friends of mine went to prision yesterday but didn't know how to get out so had to wait it out.

Not sure how as we're in the starting zone but me and my friend saw a player house which we could attack, so we attacked it until it burnt in to the ground!

How the hell are you able to play in Korean? Surely at the very least you need to know what all the spells and items say in the tool tips?

Also, is it easy to get the Korean version up and running? Any good guides anywhere on how to do it? Don't you need a Korean credit card and national insurance ID or something?

There are loads of people playing it, I think there are about 3-5 English speaking guilds on the server too. There is a very useful forum out there too (can't think of the name can post link when I get home) which has numerous threads explaining what each class is, what each spell does, what are good combinations etc. Koreans have been helpful with some of the stuff too and people really are generally helpful. I must admit I've seen more English speaking players run around than Koreans.

The thing with the Korean version is you need labor points to do a lot of things, harvest/craft etc and I believe the only way to get these is to buy a time card. I think all in all I spent around £20 getting some company to setup the account for me and adding a 30 day time card to it, you can follow guides and setup the account for free but I like the support I get from my company, if my account gets locked for $3 they will get it unlocked.

About the KSSN I don't think you do for the F2P account, I'm not 100% sure but like I said I go through a company so they sort it all out.

Obviously with it being in Korean you do miss some stuff, one of the missions you get you have to go to an island, so me and my mate spent 5-10 mins swimming there, on our second play through we noticed we had an item in our bag which was a boat so it took about 1 min :D

*edit*

Remembered name, google archeage source

I do like the look of the pvp

Can someone give me a rough price on playing the Korean version here and is the lag bad?

For the account and a month time card thing for labor points around £20-£25. Labor points are used for basically everything non combat related, so crafting, harvesting etc. If you don't want labor points then you're looking at around £10 but make sure you don't start gathering etc until you've got your horse as you have to grow your horse and that costs labor points.

There is obviously lag but I don't think it's that bad, I would say there are 100 + European/American people playing, lots of people in my guild and there are several other guilds.

There is no translation pack that is supported, it's rather easy to pick up. Any issues or any questions give me a shout.

I have a friend in Tera Online who is a former UO player, currently playing ArchAge. He has so far stated that it is very UO like in terms of skills and other ingame systems. However he doesn't rate the combat that much stating that it is very unbalanced and clunky.

The game still has my interest though and I look forward to seeing how things pan out.

Looking for to this coming out over here, but unfortunately I have a feeling they'll drag their feet and not get it released over here soon enough. And by that I mean before one of the forthcoming mmorpg big hitter's are released or enter open beta's.

I was just wondering of those on this forum, who is playing on the Korean servers for this game?

I've recently jumped back on with my silver account ($10 one off payment) and a lot has changed.

I'm toying with skills at the moment, trying to perfect my tank/DPS character. Similar to the Shillien Knight in Lineage 2.

For those unaware, the game can be played, following this links advice (scroll down for ArcheAge). Bare in mind, the game is entirely in Korean, you can find things like menu translation pictures on the net by googling. But mostly, it's easy to work out if you have played a mmo before.

It's up for release in the EU sometime soon I hope!

If you do join, know the client download is pretty slow, it's an overnight jobby. And also, I'm on the server mentioned in the above link, user name is Melons.

Think ill give this a go at some point, even if its in korean might be fun. tried out Age of Wushu but couldnt dedicate the kind of time needed (its a real timesink plus you MUST be there for the daily script raid to have any chance of fun which was early evening here - impossible) - does Archeage require a lot of play or can you take it at your own pace?

It seems to be able to be pretty casual.

It's very easy to get to grips with the combat system. As for the other threads, figured it was good to start a new one that's dedicated to the release.

i think the EU release is on hold atm. i have been signed o for beta for near a year i think now and no new info has appeared on trion worlds web site. there where whispers that the Eu and US releases where off the cards but we shall have to see.

Been waiting for this for a while now but not heard anything about it in a long while. Cba with korean version, just going to wait until EU is out. Waiting for Blade and Soul too much doesnt seem like much is happening with that :(

Trion have update their website apparently dec 22nd, but only with some lore? Not sure what else is happening. A korean version might be ok for a taster.
