ArcheAge, Ultima Online's rebirth?

Ok mate brilliant, I'm always sailing over that lake moving trade packs around from my house, next time I'll keep an eye out and stop for a spot of fishing :)

Hit 50 today but i'm starting to become a bit wary of investing a lot of time into the game. More and more hacks and exploits are appearing daily and it seems there's very little Trion can do about them other than reacting to reports because of how they rely on XL to implement things.

I have not seen any hacks yet, not that I would know what to look for tbh but I'm guessing its just the bots and speeds hacks like you used to get in WOW?

While yes there are speed hacks where bots teleport to trade run gold traders for instant gold, the labour system means they are limited in what they can do.

They can only make and turn in as many packs as their labour allows, so they have the same upper limit in gold/hour as any normal player does (theoretically).

Due to this I don't see it as a huge problem, yes of course not every player will max out his labour daily like these bots will so they do have an advantage, but it still sets that upper limit on gold inflation so it is limited on how much it can affect the economy.

I actually bought Patron last night but I'm still waiting for the buff to appear in game, they have also not taken the money from my paypal account. When I log in to the account management system it says I will be charged next time I log in, but I have logged in and out numerous times but still nothing

Yeah, it's the same on the lakes, birds will be flying around the schools of fish.

I'm just waiting until my proficiency is higher only about 4k right now, and i'm also trying to find some people to go with to share the bait costs so it's more profitable.

If you're getting that information from old guides it is incorrect now. It was changed for release to make it possible to go sport fishing with little or no proficiency. One of my friends had <1000 and caught a massive fish, and I've seen streamers and videos of similar things too.

Whilst I love this game this labour system is pretty crippling unless you keep buying labour pots. I must say I don't like the trend where F2P necessary items are tagged onto a subscription. If you pay for a sub I think you shouldn't be restricted in anything. Still loving the game though 12 pieces down on the Black Pearl.

While I do see what you mean, have to disagree. I think the labour system is a pretty good idea.

It serves quite a few purposes really. As I mentioned above it puts an upper limit on gold inflation to indirectly control the economy. It puts everyone on a fairly even footing as well, again because of that limitation, but those who really want it can get ahead (with labour potions, etc as you mentioned) without getting a huge advantage.

And obviously it serves the developers/studio by time gating your progression keeping you involved in the game longer.

It also means you have to make important decisions about what to spend your labour on, giving the game another dimension (to me anyway).

It can be annoying at times though when you really wanna do that next bit of fishing or crafting etc! But I see the benefits of it to the game.

I agree with that I just think when you sub you should get everything and I know people would argue you do but the simple fact is that if you have more money in real life you can get ahead. I am not sure this is so right but then I also acknowledge that people with more money tend to have less time and people with more time get a distinct advantage on things too. I myself am not really certain where a balance can be drawn unless it was part of the original design specification and with a F2P game that is never going to happen.

Anyway they need to get the servers up I have trees to chop down!

Yeah I wanted to harvest my crops this morning, damn servers!

Seemed like a decent little quality of life patch though, especially the healer item changes.

So how are the servers ques recently?

I notice this games thread has pretty much died a death as too two weeks ago

no ques now but isnt that due to the server capatiy being increased , The hacks im seeing though makes me wonder If should bother hmmm

It was inevitable that queues would eventually drop off naturally, but Trions / XL Games incompetancy has led to players being forced to quit or give up attempting to play.

I've been irritating scapes and hartsman since launch relaying issues and reports back to them and the dialogue coming not just from them two, but Trion as a whole...is just very poor.

Just didnt get the same buzz that I got from alpha, my race to 50 was slow this time round and the land grab made it worse. Managed to get a farm down and the guild has several houses but the negativity of launch has sourced the experience.

The original servers are still locked from making new characters because its too full and at prime time there is a small queue even with patron status on my server, one of the newer ones.

So it's still pretty busy tbh!

That's because everyone is in the game - only time to post when the servers are down!

Pretty much this , most of my free time has been taken up with it. Playing with some friends and we nearly have a house for our guild! been respeccing a lot to test out different builds too

Bought patron buff since I have enjoyed it so much.

Ok a question for you knowledgeable. We are a small guild and have specialised crafters however the labour is suffering. Therefore, can we get lower end crafters to make the low end items and just keep the high end crafters to make the high end. Or do high end crafters get a better chance of upgrading and getting a critical and therefore they need to make every single item from bottom to top tier?
