Archery

I did it ! I managed to get my 2nd Class Bowmen, not a bad achievement given it's my first season shooting. Did an American and got 650 in pretty windy conditions, so I'm a happy camper.

My sight failed a couple of weeks ago, there were tears but luckily it was only my starter sight Avalon TecOne. I replaced it with a Fivics FV-200 carbon job, I love it - solidily built, great precision control and comes in a lovely case hopefully this will stay with me as I continue to shoot further distances.

I strongly recommend Gas Pro fletchings on carbon arrows for anyone considering shooting beyond 50 yards, my grouping and accuracy has improved significantly since they have been on my ACCs. So much so, I have bought the 3" jobs for my indoor arrows.

Love the indoor myself, I just use my old Easton Jazz arrows, the wider the better (if you use fatobys ur a cheat :p) ;). Just find a fair few less variables to worry about and just concentrate on technique...

Now you say that though I think next indoor I might have to change my indoor ones as I doubt they are stiff enough for the poundage I pull unless I drop that for indoor aswell, hmm...

ps3ud0

I used XX75 for indoors, not the fattest of arrows but good for line breakers. Looking at some Gamegetters, basiclly this seasons XX75.
Be interesting how indoors is going to be for me, having an MS relapse & got neuritis on the optic nerves. Outside, at 60yds, the red/gold merged into a single goldish colour. Still got a fair few golds but a stonking headache to go with it.

Well done with the 1st class Robertnpmk :-)

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling not well, really have no advice on MS. Please try to keep up with the sport I know you are enjoying it which can't be a bad thing.

My right eye has settled down a lot more. Can now focus again without seeing a mixed blob on the target. Nice shoot this morning though, except the sun making it fun.

Any compound archers here at all? :)
Any one into field archery rather than fita etc ? (no disrespect meant)

I shoot compound, not tried it for field archery though. Just target at the moment. There is a club nearby that shoots field, so may give it a try but would need to get a pin sight to make it easier.

What sight do you use just now?

I had 5 pin sight set for 20/30/40/50/60 yards but just wasn't for me....ok at 20y with it but after that :(

Def prefer a scope sight (bieter 39mm) and a nice wee sure loc sight...and of course "archers advantage" to give me all my sight marks :)

Hoyt fan myself...at bottom of the range just now but planning to upgrade very soon to a wee bit higher up the range :)

Just a cartel compound sight with a petron .75 scope. Mac 10 scope next & possibly a new sight, but current one gets out to 70yds.
Shooting a Martin bow as it gave me most draw length adjustment, just swap out a module & jobs done, plus another inch adjustment on the draw stop.
Now shooting with a hinge release & so much better for it. Finding too much target panic with the wrist release.

Indoor season started yesterday, good job given it was hammering it down with rain off and on.

Shot 523 on a Portsmouth - hit 1 x 6 and 6 x 7 which screwed my scores up. I shot with my ACCs with indoor gaspro's on, I'm in two minds whether I should tune my allies and give those a go ?

Thats a good start for the indoor season. (it is soo long and boring)

Last thursday I broke the 550 mark for the second time with 556. My personal target for this indoor season is 575. isn't many point but if you look at it the other way it is a maximum of 2 9s per end of 6 that I can loose. :(

You are a machine Robert ! My personal goal is 550 for this season which could be a challenge for a man of my ability.

That is the thing with Portsmouth's, you have to live in the custard to get anything over 540 and then you have very little room for error for bigger scores

Nice start for the winter

Got first Portsmouth comp. in a couple of weeks time. Should be interesting. Using my FMJ's at the moment indoors but may look to getting some new XX75/GameGetters's for that added line cutter size ;)
Contemplating doing a FITA 18 at Penrith at end of November as well. See how i do in the Portsmouth first.
