According to a quick browse of various sites including but not limited to, nowinstock, Overclockers UK are globally the only retailer still taking pre orders for cards they cannot deliver.

Talk about rolling in it! The delay for the cards isn't their fault but they know its months and months and yet they are ok with sitting on a pile of cash all that time. Sorry its disgusting .

Noones beating anyone down. Its a new generation of card, no one can fault the employees. We can fault businesses that sell products they dont have and sell items they have no availability for and up the price taking advantage of a lack of global supply due to the same global pandemic. Earning interest off of the thousands spent. So yes, people have a right to whine when theyve paid for something that was 'In Stock' or available 18th September.
Basically this. Thank you for finding the better words to put together.

You’re paying for a “pre-order”, have a look at Gibbos post. You can cancel at any time if you see stock elsewhere but they aren’t saying they’ve got stock and not shipping them...

Not sure why people are getting their panties in a twist

Literally every retailer will take an order for something they don’t have in stock, I don’t buy that argument.

OcUK had stock... it just vanished instantly due to demand. Putting up prices is basic supply and demand, another common business strategy.

My point is people are frothing at the mouth over a graphics card which is in limited supply, in the midst of a global pandemic.

I’ve got a 32 core custom water cooled threadripper machine that I would love to compliment with a 3090 but if I can’t find anywhere in stock then I’d preorder.

The fact that people already have secured an order is good. Wait for an update from the retailer you bought it for and in the meantime stay safe and try not to contract the virus :p
Stock vanished because bots came in and swooped it all. Because there are no counter measures in place in ANY etailer that sells PC PARTS. and its a ******* disgrace if you ask me. etailers selling PC parts..... the same pc parts average joe pc users use! the same parts those very same average joe users use to install linux/windows, to write codes for software to make their lives easier. Yet an etailer, so popular that it is 'one of the oldest partnerships with nvidia' has no AI tools or anything to battle some basket bots. its a joke :) and such stuff should have been implemented around 2018 as is.

Because if it did, it would have shipped by now. The only ones shipping today are those ordered yesterday.

I'm talking about the competitor though? The fact they apparently had stock today and 100's of people ordered from them... I know it says delivery on or before Friday 2nd October, but I'd be interested to see if anybody had anything more in their order summary page? The reason I am asking is I ordered, but I am very sceptical as to whether or not we will receive cards Friday.

They’ve added captcha now. You missed the memo.

I agree with your point but the bot coders will always be a step ahead. It’s been happening for years in the music / gig industry.

Scalpers can suck Jensens sweaty leather jacket as far as I’m concerned.

Well it was down to this post below

I then worked out their position on the unofficial queue and kind of just applied that to mine. But if a 21:40 order is 120 then we would be somewhat less.

Only I now see that is for the OC so... who knows.. back to banging head on desk!!

Sorry @Four_G I got it wrong :(

Yup, I posted honestly what I was told, one just hopes that I didn’t screw us all over on the list and encouraged queue hoppers to the detriment of us all :( If I did I apologise you all in front of me. It wasn’t my intention, I simply wanted to give those on the list some hope. I myself have been an ASUS fan, so saw no reason to change to an unknown make to me.

They need to stop taking pre orders for cards and forfill the orders they already have as if it is the case I am constantly getting pushed back in the cue for someone's last minute decision I'm cancelling my order pick up a couple of cheap 2080ti and never doing any business with overclockers again.

Give me what I paid for.

How are you getting pushed back? Anyone preordering now goes to the back of the queue.

They’re manually removing orders placed by bots, switching people that changed SKUs and will give you a rough idea of your place in the queue shortly.

You’ve paid for a card and they don’t have stock. When they do, you’ll get it.

This isn't necessarily my situation (as I saw Gibbo's posts before the launch) but I know some people didn't know they were pre-ordering because the website went wrong and started stating certain items were in stock or had an ETA within a week. Obviously, customers will now have been disabused of that idea and they can cancel whenever they want but I can see how that would be frustrating. Furthermore, people are buying an expensive luxury item and have put down a significant amount of money so probably expect a high level of customer service. It is probably a foreign concept to many to pay a load of money for something and be told that "you'll get it when you get it".

I recognise that OCUK are probably genuinely having issues knowing when the stock will arrive but for those of us not in the PC components retail industry, that seems strange. One would expect manufacturing and retail are pretty predictable activities (even during a global pandemic). Manufacturers (some of whom run fully-automated factories) typically know how many products they will make in a period of time and logistics companies know how many items they can ship in a period of time so it seems odd that there is not more of a plan of what will be delivered and when.

That said, I'm in no huge rush but my point is that I can see why others might be frustrated.

Absolutely, and thanks for discussing it civilly.

Unfortunately it’s hard to see beyond the “OMG WHERE MY CARDZ!!!111one!11!” and there’s a lot of really wound up buyers acting like their world is ending because a luxury item isn’t available on day 1 of a global pandemic :D
